Procustion Engineer Very Technical orientated and easy learner
Currently working as a Production Engineer, duties involve: Problem finding and solving of all technical, software and mechanical problems on the following operations: Furnaces, Water and Iron and Slag Treatment plants. Improving operations by getting capital projects and equipment approved. Initializing, testing, implementing and commissioning of approved projects, capital projects and minor modifications to improve safety, health, environment, quality and productivity. Giving technical assistance to all operations, which includes plant operations, technical services, mechanical and electrical services, design team, projects team, management, procurement and stores. Involved with metallurgical research and development for process improvements. Improving operations by periodically reviewing SOPs, training modules, plant interlocks, start-up and shutdown sequences, and implementing continuous improvement Compiling SLA foe waste disposal

Doing toolbox talk when after had over, manage available Specialist Operators and operators, manage time keeping document, manage safety Equipment and Production. attend morning meetings, safety meetings and and plants issues. To make sure that the DCS operators are doing according to a standard to produce quality and do necessary changes if needed so that we always produce on speck production. And to be aware of safety standards and company procedures. To maintain the level of the furnaces by tapping on time. To train people and send them for further education so the company will have the skilled people that helps to lower human errors and downtime. To provide competence. Do one on one to make sure that I understand the needs of process controllers together with the need of management for performance contract. To provide necessary PPE and make sure that they know about company safety management system

Learning curve
Compile monthly reports. Investigate SHE related incidents. Give guidance in SHE related issues. Mentor Junior staff. Built working teams with different departments. New challenges and new/fresh solutions to problems. Most challenge is to ensure that SHE related issues are not ignored and that we as professionals stay relevant.

Excellent learning curve
Working at Tronox KZN sands is quite a good experience for me I am actually learning a lot since I came with no work experience. I've learnt how to scan documents, photocopying, typing mails, making of spread sheets, housekeeping, coordinating meetings, taking meeting minutes, recruitment and answering calls. I have a good relationship with co-worker, they are people who are easy to work with. I really enjoy doing my the challenge is that I'm not a permanent employee so I need a permanent job so that my future will be secured.

Good company
Good renumeration package and company that's able to stand the test of times, hardly any retrenchment talks no matter how the industry times change but the problem is there are no promotion opportunities. One ends up managing a supervisory position without being formally given a title or getting oxide for it, hence the responsibility is not equivalent to the job perks. It doesn't matter that the company gives share schemes to employees for free, it doesn help with expanding oneself's knowledge and growing within the industry.
