Excellent opportunity to evolve and grow through experience

Transnet Capital Projects, now Transnet Group Capital is mainly a project management organisation, operating mainly on infrastructure development, and sustainability, of which mostly mega projects where approval is required from either the National Acquisition Council or Department of Public Enterprises. I receive my tasks and requests mainly from Project managers, Auditors Consultants, and our legal teams. My tasks in this organisation currently is of office support nature, involving historic research, archiving and database creation for our Prudency and Governance team where I have learn much of NEC contracts, re legal and commercial aspects thereof. I was selected to establish a dispute library to support our legal team, and I love finding historical project information that was seemingly lost. My co-workers are pleasant, my Managers are professional, dedicated and much respected. The most challenging

Pros: Job insecurity has made me more flexible and adaptable
Cons: Fixed term Contract work equals financial uncertainty

Enjoy working here

Great company to learn and excercise your skills. There is a room for growth and information is easily accessible. Not many companies offer rail experience and understand how to deal with diverse people. Here i have learn a lot in terms of cultures of different ethnic groups.

Pros: Opportunity to apply your skills.
Cons: Can be easily influenced by politics

Great for making one grow stronger emotionally and mentally

It's a well known brand and customer service it's is main focus which is good for the business. Since I started working for the brand it built me in sense that I deal with complains and difficult customers and how to address issues, and also be a leader for my co-workers in the last few years I've grown to be strong and not take things personal.

Pros: It all depends on who you are its not really based on your work ethic
Cons: long working hours, although I'm used to working long hours I can't really complain about it

Excellent Learning Curve

Working at Transnet Capital Projects has presented great opportunities for me to grow professional and financially. I have gained valuable experience in the field of Communications and Stakeholder Management as well as the ability to work both in a team and individually while make a positive impact on the organisation. My work does include travelling within the Transnet national footprint, something that I have enjoyed. While working in the field of Communications is demanding and requires one to always be on their feet, with passion, it becomes an enjoyable experience.

Pros: Great Opportunity for Growth in a big organisation
Cons: The culture of the organisation is not always one that embraces Communications and the barriers are therefore often high.

Decent company but too many politics

you get medical aid subsidy, pension and performance bonus if the company does well. the issue comes in with current senior management, structures are created with new job opportunities with potential for advancement. but these structures take 18 months to approve and by that time the political climate has changes and a new senior management team is appointed by government. the old structure is scraped and a new structure is developed. and this cycle continues with every change in the political climate. so you never get a chance to move to the next level in your career.

Pros: job security
Cons: they don't value employees from within transnet only external employees.

Good

I worked at Transnet South Africa full-time for more than 5 years. Flexibility in terms of working hours, that is if you are working at park town and also dependent on which department you working in. Good place to work at if you want to study or open a personal business. Career dead end Jobs -Red tape -Misalignment between different divisions. Increase effort to retain talent, not only by awarding certificate but increasing remuneration also.

Pros: flexible environment
Cons: not enough room for promotion

Learning Curve

I had an internship from 2010 to 2011 in Supply Chain Department at City of Johannesburg Metrocentre doing all administration work then from 2015 to 2016 i had a leanership from Trasnsnet as a Document Contoller leaner and after that year they gave me one year contract in the same Department doing the same thing.

Pros: Great oppotunity
Cons: eight hours
