Great learning curve a bigger challenge than what I have done before

Basically I take incoming calls and book appointments for patients and work out quotations after contacting medical aids for benefits and also assist with patient queries and complaints . My relationship wih my co workers is quite good we always manage to resolve or isssues right there and then to avoid blowing things out of proportion. I have learnt a lot of things from customer service to multi tasking and also i have gained a lot of admin knowledge and experience. I enjoy working with different kinds of people and also learning how medical aids work etc however it is very difficult sometimes because people are very different some people are just not easy to help but I have learned to handle that without getting worked up. I always tell myself its part of the job if I can only go out of my way to make every client happy its rewarding for me.

Great opportunity to learn about medical aids and also a greater challenge

My typical day at work is to book appointments for patients and to make sure that all their info and consultation cards are up to date. I also call medical aids to confirm if patients have benefits or not. Its a very fast paced enviroment and also very challenging. I have learned quite a bit from the job and my co workers and I work very well as a team. I enjoy making people feel good about themselves even though they have eye problems so helping them choose frames etc. and seeing them happy makes me feel good. The most challenging part is when patients are unhappy with glasses or when they expect things to be done their way its very difficult to explain and get them to understand or if its an issue with the spectacles then its hard to regain thei r trust.

Hostile owner-managed company with little-to-no opportunity for growth or development.

There is no constructive feedback. When feedback is given, it is aggressive & belittling, in front of all employees. Words like "pathetic" "useless" are used with threats of dismissal. There is no common space to eat lunch & no space to move between desks. The owner-MD & his son, sit in the middle of the cramped space to monitor employees, prevent talking/personal interaction. Employees communicate on WhatsApp groups/in the parking lot. Lunch is brief, eaten rushed & hunched over a cramped desk. Approaching the MD is like walking on egg shells toward a ticking bomb, that always results in a hostile bark. Employees have developed a strong & intimate friendship. I have learnt that often the best reaction is a non-reaction. If you back yourself/your staff up/qualify your decisions, you get accused of interrupting or questioning authority. There is no opportunity for growth or skills development. I have learnt: comradery & empathy helps one survive the most unpleasant working conditions.

Overall great learning experience

The company provides a lot of learning opportunities and/or skills development through training. These are great continuous learning and it really improves employees' capabilities. There are great interrelations within the practice and the working environment is quite pleasant. There are, however, no benefits such as medical aid or pension fund and that is the downfall for the company and it also leads to staff turnover. The other disadvantage is, very long retail working hours which leads to fewer quality times with families and friends.

NO DEVELOPMENT

i am not happy at the company bacause the level they treat their employees especially at a branch level, there is no growth or development. there is no bonus except when the franchisee feels like giving us. my collique has worked for more than 15years without promotion or salary increase. it is only good at giving one management and experince administratively and client customer experience but the level of treatment is unequal.

Wonderful working environment

I typically do face to face sales and front desk assistance to clients walking through the door. I I typically do face to face sales and front desk assistance to clients walking through the door. I do admin and handle accounts/collections. We have a close working environment and it’s taught me patience. Prior to this I worked as support for marketing and sales divisions which I enjoyed. Good customer orientated

It is a nice working environment but long hours are challenging especially December holidays.Most practices are situated in malls of which they have to comply on the malls and their rules

Excellent in customer service, meeting demands or orders by customers

i cut and fit lenses into frames, tinting lenses, frame adjustments, reading rx from frame, changing nose pads and dispensing lenses to patients, calling patients for collections and calling patients remind them of there appointments

Good customer relations build

General conversations with Co workers , Also Clients, general Customer relations, Good day well spent is invoicing for the practice over and above R20.000 .The business between last year and now is a bit slow , therefore it is a bit difficult to reach the required targets, the principle is to capture as many patients as possible in order to achieve.
