Exciting, challenging, rewarding role

A highly competitive environment with highly skilled and amazing people. On any given day I am faced with different challenges, from recruiting scarce skills, to maintaining employee engagement. I am part of the exco involved in the creating, owning and actioning the people plan across the incredible region. Each market, and culture brings different experiences, challenges and their own rewards. As part of the exco I am integral in the managing of budgets , be it headcount , training and overall business performance. What I enjoy the most are the diverse, beautiful people across this continent. The most challenging aspect has been finding the skilled talent in the relatively new industry so reliance on expats and all that entails is a short term solution which is not sustainable.

Pros: Incredible learnings, people and cultures
Cons: Have hit a ceiling.

Managerial level

Refreshing, learning something new each day. Managing a staff pool of 25 Monday to Sunday. Long hours in the office. 7am to 6pm followed by work at home. Good working relationship with co-workers and my manager, there is a friendship amongst us.

Pros: Great opportunity to gain market research experience
Cons: Monday to Sunday 24/7 on call

Grew as much as I could from knowing nothing to superviding

Got very hectic at times would wirk 12, hrs a day for weeks on end, really gave me an opportunity to upskill mysellf not only within the work place but outside woek as well (matured)

Pros: Moved within the company quite quickly
Cons: Not recognised and long hours
