Thomson Reuters Reviews

Great communicator and interpersonal skills

I’m a very motivated, enthusiastic, hard worker and determined in whatever I do to produce positive results. I always promote transparency in my work so that I can be able to deal with any mistakes or impediments in my work with the help of others. I believe that with the educational background in the financial markets, work related duties with the financial instruments and securities as well as my positive personality qualifies, I can make a difference in the role given the opportunity. I am looking forward to discuss more about my skills and knowledge Sincerely, Lerato Pholoholo

Working in a virtual environment within a matrix structure

I work with a multitude of different people from authors of thought leadership articles/white papers, graphic designers, web portal creation teams, internal subject matter experts, marketing operations staff, sales teams on a daily basis. My job entails drawing up marketing plans: annual plans, tactical plans, etc. to effectively promote our products in an environment where our services and products are considered a grudge purchase. I have a very good relationship with my co-workers, both locally and internationally. I have learnt to be extremely trusting and trustworthy in my dealings since we often have to work in isolation to get a project off the ground. I enjoy the independence of working anytime anywhere by logging in and getting the job done. The time differences when a project entails people from different regions, especially when we need representation from Asia and the Americas on a specific project.

Pros: global exposure
Cons: not always getting noticed for getting the job done - especially when I get involved in projects specific to South Africa.

Knowledge Assimilation

Excellent company to be a part of, exposed graduates to all their market offerings such as Eikon and risk management products. They encouraged learning and enrolled us to Financial Markets and Instruments course of which i passed with a 71% average.

Pros: Networking opportunities are second to none
Cons: Limited internal growth potential in terms of changing roles.

Excellent platform for learning new programs but no room for growth.

This was a tight deadline driven company as business was growing at a rapid pace. Yet after automation of the billing system, things have slowed down drastically almost to the point of being bored. Flexible working hours from 8-6. It is great working with people from all over the world and learn their different cultures. I am proud to be working for Thomson Reuters.

Pros: Flexible working hours
Cons: It is a large company and sometimes you feel like just a number.

Very operational and transactional HR issues

Working with foreigners and staff who are not professionally qualified and who are used to working in a very informal environment, not corporate or aligned to the rest of the global company, very family orientated environment

Pros: Great benefits and working with colleagues across the globe
Cons: Not very stable

A work day at Thomson Reuters are satisfying and a learning curve.

A typical work day is to process new orders from the sales team, to follow up on all queries and resolve matters with clients. Engage with peers on all levels. Most challenging part is time management especially at month end. I have learnt it is rewarding to go the extra mile.

Pros: getting to learn different cultures and languages
Cons: no room for growth
