Excellent Learning Curve and Experience gained
Typical day at work starts at 7am in the morning. I do my daily checks, go through morning e-mails and start my investigations into the Service Delivery, I am currently the SDM as well for The South African mint. Managing the full service desk, monthly SLA's as well as customer facing with escalations from customers. I have learnt an extreme amount on the VMWare infrastructure as The Mint's infrastructure is configured as a High Availability structure with and RTO of 15 Minutes. What i enjoy most is the infrastructure. Because of the nature of the complexity it is just amazing. managing 116 servers all on vmware and 8 Physical VMWare hosts connecting to SAN storage systems. This is also the most challenging aspects but it's the challenges that drives me. I absolutely love what i do.

Street Wise Experience Experience
My position at the South African Mint, is very exciting, everyday is different and comes with it's own challenges and successes. My day starts be ensuring that the security department is operational sound, in terms of hardware, sofware and most importantly that the Security staff are performing their duties. In order for this department to support business needs optimally, I ensure that communication and teamwork is instilled in all our staff. Promoting A Happy work environment the better people perform. I empower my staff to take ownership and accountability for their position and to create a healthy work environment for all, to thrive in their positions and to be proud to be a security professional.
Pros: opportunities to improve oneself are always available.
Cons: on call 24/7 but this is part of management
