Challenging and diverse environment with various brands covering various industries

I work with an amazing bunch of HR professionals. Having gone through a major acquisition the environment is one of change and challenges. We have always been a close knit hard working team and letting new HR colleagues into our environment has been challenging. I have learnt that I don't like politics and prefer to just get on with the job at hand in the most professional and cost effective manor. After growing and developing the business for the past 9 years I feel that it may be time for a change in a new environment that can allow me to be creative and add value to the organisation. I like to create and build and deliver on inspirational initiatives and drives within the business that are in alignment with the business strategies and are sustainable in the long term.

Pros: With the aquisition I am lest stretched acrosse all HR areas
Cons: I miss the generalist environment and creating and being responsible for a fully integrated platform that touches on all HR areas.t

I find Steinbuild (previously Iliad Africa) an exceptional work place

I find Steinbuild an exceptional company. It is a place that is very work orientated but we have fun on the right time and place. Every day is a challenge and every moment an opportunity. I can say it is a place where you have a journey. A typical day for me is to list what I didn’t have time to complete, then prioritize what was left plus what is there to do. There is no time to waste and the sooner you start the better will your chances to complete most of the tasks. Mostly more unplanned tasks are given during the day which needs to be done immediately and cannot wait to be planned. Sometimes arrangements for travel and accommodation needs to be done. Every day is a hectic day at work. I have learnt so much in the past 5 years and 7 months, from tips on project management to limited knowledge on the K8.09/Babbage ERP system. The team I work with can be described in only one word, and that is excellent. They are focused and indeed a team in a million. The worst part of my day is the traffic.

Cons: Traffic to Midrand is very bad

Professional Summary

I am a confident, driving individual who reacts quickly to change. A self-starter with a strong sense of urgency who responds positively to challenge and pressure. A fast learner who is a practical problem solver. My line of professional career in Marketing is to promote the products or services and identity of a company on today's highly competitive marketplace. With the skills and duties I have achieved in my career thus far is to (increase market share, maximize sales, create a lasting impression among audiences and coordinating advertising and marketing campaigns). Did a leadership development course, learned about entrepreneurial skills.

I would set up appointments with suppliers, setting ranges, pricing and doing promotions. Going through the day to day aspects of what is happening in the stores.there is a good relationship among co-workers. we believe in entrepreneurial skills, allowing the store management to give input into trends and customer demands.

Review of my current company

This company is such a great company to work for and there is a lot of capacitation. You deal with different kinds of people in 1 day as we are a lot. I have learned that through perseverance you can grow. I started at this company as a person that was assisting customers with their goods to their cars. I then became a salesperson for some years and went to our head office to be a data capture. This have assisted me to understand things more on how pricing is generated to reflect to price tags and also on the system. I then later became an applications consultant which basically assist all the business users with their issues on the system that we use. This all couldn't have happen if there wasn't team work and good relationship between management and employees. In all of the above said I have learned to work as a team member and also be able to do some work individually. Also I have learned on taking ownership of things running with the idea also throwing your own initiatives. That's all

Ready for a new challenge and opportunity

I work unsupervised and work well under pressure. I thrive on deadlines and ensure that the payroll is completed accurately and within the set deadlines. I am a peoples person with an open door policy. I have an excellent relationship, not only with my manager but also with my colleagues. I have learnt over the years to be transparent with everything I do. This helped alot during my career especially when working with figures and people's remuneration. My challenge in the beginning was, that this is the first time that I'm the only person in the payroll department, so I had to learn to depend and have trust in my own decisions. I quickly had to identify those employees that would be beneficial for me to have a close relationship with. I have learned so much in the past 2 years, because I had to do everything myself and not depend on a manager.

Excellent learning potential

My typical day is from a customer walks in, be it Cash customer or account customer. My involvement is from the sale to inventory to debtors to creditors, I know exactly how each transaction/sale impacts our books. I have trust relationship with all my co-workers we work as a team and they know from point of sale what is expected from them, I am hands on at my Branch assist co workers where needed. Being so involved from point of sale through to bookkeeping to trial balance I’ve learned a great deal of the business world. The part I enjoy the most of my job is the ability to have such a good working relationship with all my staff, co-workers and management. The challenging aspects of my job is the fact that because our head office is in Cape Town, it is crucial that whatever we put into the system is accurate and correct, I work completely independent, reporting on figures from our side at branch level has to be accurate and correct.

Pros: As an accountant, you learn a lot because of your involvement in the operational side of the business
Cons: You basically on constant standby, I have my laptop at home, should for an example, between myself and my branch manager has to get something done work related.

Excellent challenging experience

I enjoy the challenges that come with the day to day running of the business. Meeting the deadlines, setting meetings with team members for tracking of progresses as well providing feedback. Coaching and motivating teams and keeping senior management updated. Liaising with clients making sure to solve their queries and keeping within business objectives and mission. Communication across and within departmental areas leads to effective and efficiency in productivity as everyone is abreast of what is going on around the business. That creates an atmosphere that is inviting and peaceful.

EXCELLENT LEARNING CURVE

My general tasks per day is print bank statements, scan and send through to the relevant branches. then I need to do account reconciliations for all seven branches. calling for invoices, statements and pod from branches and suppliers are a everyday struggle but I have to do it in order to get my work done. I'm very adaptable so I always have a very good relationship with my co-workers. I learn everyday in my role even thou I;m already nine years in this field. I love what I do because I love working with numbers. not getting all the relevant paperwork but I manage.

Cons: not seeing any growth

LOVE CHALLENGES

i am a very dedicated person, full of love interested to try new things everyday. Peaceful environment gives me peace. i enjoy being appreciated, get notice when i get something right. i tent to loose self confident when one try to criticize my work.
