South African Qualifications Authority Reviews

Good learning environment

South African Qualifications Authority is very good organization with extreme opportunities of learning. SAQA promotes long life learning hence the employees are granted an opportunity to further their studies by providing them with a library that within the building. SAQA also contributes towards the employees' studies provided that the qualification will benefit SAQA or fits within their framework. The relationship i have with my colleagues is very good. we are one big family. I have learn that team work always brings out the best results and contribution towards the success of the company. I definitely enjoy the challenges that comes with the responsibility of ensuring that the client always gets the best service that the company has to offer. The part of job that I do comes with a great challenge, the career of people are on my hands thus I have to ensure that the correct and accurate information regarding one's qualifications is correct.

No prospects for growth

It is a relaxed place to work at without a lot of pressure but I feel like it is not an ideal place for a person that holds a Bsc Degree and that wants to progress in their career. There is also a lot of politics as people who hold higher positions are politically connected.

Pros: flexible working hours
Cons: The job is not challenging and there are no prospects for promotions

There is high room for learning and growth

Worked within administration team, comprising 10 members and ensure that institutions pending verification are contacted and also contact clients with pending payments of their applications. I enjoyed working my co-workers and we achieved a lot as a team above all I learned about the the importance of adaptability we are living in an ever changing environment which requires one to be always to accept change and adapt to it. What I enjoyed most is the fact that we always work as a team to achieve all the given task and help one another to achieve personal goals we encourage one another to do the the best. The most challenging aspect about the job is the fact that we work with different departments and at times they deliver their work to us way later than expected and that lead to back lock but we always go extra mile to ensure we deal with it

Pros: Great opportunity for learning
Cons: A very pressurized environment

Excellent Project Management Skills

1. My typical work day involves managing each step of the project daily in consultation with the stakeholders. 2. My Relationship with co-workers – I ensure that I establish a good working relationship with the co-workers to get the best out of them and not jeopardise project progress. 3.What have I learned- I have learned to be hands-on as a Project Manager to be able to succesfully manage the project from start to end. 4. What I enjoy most- During the implementation of the project I enjoyed the relationship I had with the project team members and the sponsor. 5. Most challenging aspect of the job- When the project seemingly looking like it will not meet the deadlines, I however manage the risk through my mitigation strategies.

Pros: Great opportunity to implement new project
Cons: Working holidays and weekends

Enjoying being in contact with various stakeholders and establishing new network.

Enjoying being in contact with various stakeholders and establishing new network, learnt about the different education system of different countries, the challenging aspect if that of language barrier especially for the Arabic countries thus rely on sworn translators. Weighing and comparing South African education qualifications against the qualifications of the country is awesome.

Pros: Developing in research and research techniques as well aspolicies.
Cons: Keeping up with change
