Job review

I am working in a good company with great value, that is why I was able to stay in its service for the past 17 years. However, I think after accumulating so much knowledge and experience, it is time to explore other opportunities. I am a well dedicated, all rounder, with experience in general management, research and science-policy interface, and able to operate on both national and international spaces. I am fast learner and always open to learn new things. I have managed to equip myself with multi-disciplinary qualifications for teaching, nature conservation, environmental management, business administration and environmental science.

Pros: SANParks has great opportunities for both professional and personal developments through trainings and study funding. the compay also offers great opportunity for one to grow through the ranks in different areas which include tourism and marketing, communications and public relations, science and research, veterinary and wildlife services, human resources, finance and social ecology.
Cons: parks operations are spread far apart form each other. involves lots of traveling from place to place, most of the employees ended up not knowing the other parks

Learning curve and also gives proper studies if you interested in this field. Working outside is my hobby. Working six days a week is killing me and don't have time for my family.

Pros: Great opportunity for being promoted.
Cons: I'm not a time watcher.

Excellent learning curve, government administration and complex operating systems

I had a splendid time with my co workers. We sharpen each other on a daily basis. Diverse cultures is a big plus, as I enriched my life learning about different cultures and serious friendship bonds were formed. The only thing I found a damper was communication protocol. Going through the right channels to get a point or problem across and finding solutions in time, was not always forth coming. Support and flow of knowledge was restricted. Permanent contractors were not considered as being employed by SANParks but rather by Dept.of Environmental Affairs. I loved working at SANParks, I was happy but I also need to take care of myself and my future.

Pros: Fantastic work environment, and wonderful co workers
Cons: No opportunity for promotion or further growth
