Excellent business support

Seda is a small enterprise development agency which provides support in information on how to start your own company and also provides support in building and growing the SMME's. Seda is a non financial institution which only provides support into small businesses in South Africa

Alot of work work, salary not worth work however rewarding to see others grow and succeed

I enjoy working with people, and I have a very good working relationship with both the staff and management teams in both the Western Cape an my current Gauteng Province. I enjoy assisting staff to grow and go beyond their the companies expectation whether internal or moving into other positions outside Seda. I have learnt to have a lot of patience and endurance and to continue to motivate others even though I am not sometimes motivated. My job encompass a lot of deadlines, with no support staff, you practically work alone covering the full HR Management function. But, I enjoy what I do, that's why I chose this career.

Pros: Supporting and serivicing business and to see their growth is rewarding, because it contributes to the growth of our economy and lifts poverty to a certain extend
Cons: no promotional opportunities due to no succession planning and career pathing

Passionate about small business development

Passion for small business development is what will sustain you in the sector hence I have stayed more than 12 years. When you love what you do money and exhausting hours do not derail you for the fulfillment of making impact in people’s lives. Career prospects is limited but every project brings contentment. You definitely need passion and love for people as well as be prepared to work beyond the call of duty.the marketing team are wonderful to work with and our different roles integrate so you learn a lot. Biggest lesson learned over the years is to build good stakeholders relationships both internally and externally.

Excellent learning curve

I appreciate everything that this organisation did for me as i started as a IT Technician and now i am a IT Specialist, i have learnt a lot from technical skills, people management skills, and other IT related stuff like Procurement, Hardware, Software and networking. I enjoy what i am doing and i like the fact that i have confidence than when i first joined the organisation. The only thing that i see as a challenge is me not getting more exposure than the current one, i need something more challenging and different from what i have learned in the previous years of my career. The relationship with my team and my clients(Users) is perfect as i have my own way of ensuring a good relationship between me my clients and other stake holders.

Business advisor duties

Provision of business advice, business development support and project management to SMMEs (start-ups; operational businesses & Cooperatives). Assessing company operations in order to be able to advise accordingly and to be able to recommend, initiate, procure, implement and project manage the relevant needed interventions for these businesses. Also facilitation of relevant trainings needed as per assessments conducted on these businesses, referral and/or facilitation of access to finance to those who require financial assistance (development of sound beneficial relationships with relevant stakeholders) and facilitation of access to markets (participation of clients on trade exhibitions).
