Excellent learning curve and friendly staff that is willing to share their knowledge

I am currently undergoing an internship programme with Skynet, where by i work mainly in the HR office and i get to rotate in other departments as well. The following are what i have learned in HR: • Monthly HR reports • Creating purchase orders and processing invoices on HANSA world • Workplace profile • Manpower statistics • Recruitment and staffing • Training and employees orientation • Employee rewards and recognition reports • Funeral claims procedures • Leave schedule for employees • Preparing employee termination reports for a financial year • Updating the payroll information • Preparing overtime Schedule • Employment equity stats • Labour turnover

Excellent learning curve

Working for Skynet Worldwide Express has taught me quite a lot of things, hence it has been an excellent learning curve for me. Through my experience, I've managed to acquire the following but not limited: Customer service skills Problem solving skills Communication skills Interpersonal skills Analytical skills Teamwork skills Report making skills My typical work day would include data entry, attending to client's queries, managing a fleet of cars and their drivers, monitoring on time delivery of parcels, receptionist reliever and of course customer service. What I enjoyed more was was the part of assisting clients with all their queries and attending to them promptly.

Checker loading and offloading trucks

Picking parcels and loading in the trucks for delivery and receiving(offloading)parcels and placed them for delivery and cleaning the floor after loading trucks.i had a good relationship with floor management and drivers.i have learned to be patient and respect my job.I did enjoy when I was working knight shift.it was very challenging when coming to load and find that the parcels are no completed so you have to look then all over the warehouse

Pros: it was a great opportunity for me because it my first job i started as a van assistant and get promoted to the warehouse as a checker so for it was a great achievement

Iv learned how deal with customers

I enjoyed working with diversity, dealing with customers on daily basis. Replacing my co-workers by doing their jobs when they are absent at work. Strong relationship with my superiors as well as good communication between my colleagues. Doing my job without complaining.I have learned how build relationship to my customers and how to calm them down when there's a problem by apologising and resolving problem without consulting superiors. Of which is I did never thought I come to that stage before I started working for such a huge company.

Starting to work in a new Industry

I relocated from Johannesburg to Mpumalanga in July last year. So I needed to find work. I started working at Skynet in September last year as the admin/PA to the Regional Branch manager. My day to day duties involve invoicing, stock ordering, monthly billing for the drivers, arranging travel arrangements etc. It is a new Industry for me as I don't have previous work experience in Freight handling, but I have worked in the Corporate world in Investments for over 15 years.

Pros: Very relaxed office, not like the huge companies I have always worked in.
Cons: Very small branch, head office is in Johannesburg. No scope to grow or have much more earning potential.
