Work review

The company I work for was given a contract by the City of Johannesburg to teach it's staff members matric. Majority of the learners who were matured in age, with the eldest student being 68 years of age. A typial day a work for me comprised of ensuring the students filled out the attendanc register which would then need to be sent to their managers, sick notes needed to be filed, typing and filing needed to be done for both the students and the facilitators, monthly reports for the students also needed to be typed and sent by me. Overall we have +-100 learners registered. My co-workers and I have a very strong relatioship. We are able to assist one another when needed. We try to ensure that we live by our vision and mission and gather together to pray prior to the day starting. I have learnt to be more patient and understading especially because we work with adults and adult learning can be tricky. I have also learnt to work well under pressure and prioritize my duties.

Pros: I got to engage in a field that allowed me to give back the knowledge that I have to those that do no have or lack thereof.
Cons: long working hours, working with people who thought that because they were older tan me, they figured I didnt know much. (cultural barrier)
