Been interesting and a great eye opener

I am self employed so a typical day would have depended on anything from just a normal general maintenance job such as fixing doors, plumbing or even just doing a garden landscape. I do pick up the staff and drop them off every day from the taxi rank and take them to the current work place for the day. then I canvas for new customers and work, preferably on a regular basis.

Pros: Own hours and time
Cons: No further prospects and business now liquidated

Handyman is a excellent learning curve

Self employed and a handyman and enjoy everything about it. I start at 7h00 in the mornings and do the biggest job first and then when I am finished I do the small jobs. I get along with all kind of people and love to learn anything that I don't know. I enjoy working with my hands and see the master peace that I have made. My biggest enjoy is when the job is finish and my works look good on the eye. And I feel proud that I can say that I did it.

Self employment

Average 8-12 working hours per day depending on work load, busiest times are month end and the months May to November when most of the work comes in and the financial statements are prepaired for submission to SARS. The most challenging of being self employed is to satisfy your clients if you want to receive more work and favourable referrals.

Pros: Being self employed has the oportunity to make decisions on your own and plan your day according to your own pace.
Cons: Longer working hours and salary depends on clients paying their accounts on time.
