Organizational summary

I work in partnership with all areas of the Organization to provide specialist coaching, support and influence that enable key clients to effectively deliver their people plans. I provide consultancy service that delivers HR best practice and commercially focused HR solutions that support the business area in conjunction with specialist HR functions. Relationship with coworkers are professional, open and inclusive and one is able to easily have access to all level of employees at any point in time. I have learnt a lot about manufacturing especially in how marketing and sales operate in these business to improve product success. A day in the life

I am currently employed at SC Johnson as HR Manager. I am filling in on a contract basis and have been asked to assist with specific projects that they are currently implementing in the HR space. The work is exceptionally stimulating and interesting at the moment. I love working on new challenging projects and it allows me to further develop my ability in driving change in the organization. My latest project is launching a mentorship programme that will run for a period of 1 year. We are training of all participants and also facilitating the relationship rules of engagement to ensure maximum value is derived from the employees. The most challenging aspects has been resourcing requirements and the fight for talent within the manufacturing arena. SCJ is a smaller player alongside other organizations that have the financial muscle to provide a large employee offering. However, we have a great culture that is people focused, which is not always a key attraction for young , impressionable individuals.

A family company

SC Johnson has taught me the true meaning of work life balance, I have been a person who would spend endless amounts of time at work, because I am committed and I believe in delivering m ore than your than what my job description dictates. However, there needs to be a balance and one needs to find time to life. This company is a true reflection of what that culture means. it allows for flexible work hours, allows for individuals to work from home at times when this is a need due to personal circumstances. There is a real and present display of the human touch in the workplace. My day is typically filled with a lot of generalist work, ranging from HR queries, to recruitment. I am finalizing the inaugural Mentorship programme I had the privilege to help design and implement . I am passionate about people development and driving a high performance culture. Training and development as well as ensure employees perform well are a passion for me as an HR specialist.

Showcasing your skill and development platform.

My workplace offers me an opportunity to showcase my talent in both managing and leading the maintenance team, while interacting with different departments eg. Quality, production, she, projects, etc Key daily focus includes but not limited to the following, ensuring quality workmanship, contract management, legal compliance of all maintenance activities, analysing and reporting, planning and organising, etc

My day at SCJ

 Facilitate implementation of training, talent sourcing, people development and HR compliance programs.  Manage all succession planning, performance management, employee relations, employee benefits and employee satisfaction initiatives.  Manage a Payroll Specialist and Sr. Associate HR Business Partner.  Oversee HR administrative activities including payroll.  Develop and implement a formal mentorship programme.  Manage and roll out "SMART" foal initiative. Hold bi-weekly meetings with manager to coach, and follow-up with operational goal setting.  Coach Managers on how to manage their employee goal setting process and performance discussions.  Implement all global best practice requirements as required to ensure global alignment.

Working on 3 brands has broadened my knowledge of launching and competing around Africa

Wonderful organization to work for with good opportunities and exposure to all sorts of projects that sharpen your skills as a marketing professional

Pros: Lean team. Allows you to work across roles and you are exposed to many aspects of the job beyond the typical scope of a Junior Brand Manger. Lots of room for upward mobility.
Cons: Internal processes sometimes disadvantage our ability to deliver on plans immediately.

I have learnt a lot throught my job and willing to learn more so that i can hv more skills

Im a very fast learner i have a great working team where i work though it is so tough and challenging at times but i do my best, i teach some of my workers on how to operate the machine and on how to present the apt boards. I have learnt a lot of things throught my job
