New challenge

The current job exposes me to the entire GRC space to an extent that I have a full appreciation of key legislative requirements, ranging from sanctions, bribery and corruption, competition law, minerals and environmental laws, finacial lwisanani and other guidelines that are of crucial importance. Such full appreciation of these laws are at an international level. Day to day activities include giving advise to the business on any matter, following up on the management of conflict of interest, presenting other rolling out awaresness to the stakeholders on key developments that affect business. My understanding of the business has created a super working relationship with my stakeholders. I have learnt diversity, teamwork and collaboration, The most challenging aspect of my job was initially to inculcate the culture of ethical leadership, Compliance and good governance

Pros: Exposure
Cons: Long working hours

Excellent learning experience

The job is a learnership/ in service training with some modules completed but most importantly is the chemical plant that I work in, we are part of the polymers and vinyls business producing VCM. With the job, I would say I love the training from that plant because it contains almost every equipment that a chemical industry would use more than any other plant I know of, from different types of reactors to different distillation methods, clarifying and water treatment or recovery methods.. I would say it's a good place for training but I would like to work for another company or plant if a permanent position opens up. My daily routine is :Taking samples using different sampling methods and analyzing them in a laboratory, ensuring that equipment is working well and systems are working properly prepare some equipment for maintenance if needed, looking for any new technology to help improve our productivity etc. The relationship with the workers is just kept professional, but they are friendly

Pros: Good off days up to 5 days off
Cons: Long working hours

Day to day logistics

It gets extremely hectic at work on a day to day basis but with good planning we usually manage very well. My co-workers, especially my direct reports enjoy working with me and that's because I'm a team player. I have learnt a lot from my current company, I have seen the Road Traffic Act from a different perspective, I have learnt how to conduct surveys etc. I enjoy SHE issues arising and operations requesting our department to assist in those matter. The most challenging aspects are avoiding incidents because human error is always a factor, derailing trains, customer complaints etc.

Pros: Great management team.
Cons: Long working hours

Working on a managerial level

As An Industrial Engineer I have learned to, assess the environment of the company and/or industry before implementing changes through the principles of Six Sigma. I learn quickly how the company operates and what the basic operations are and how the different departments (logistics, Engineering, Finance etc.) are inter-linked and how they work together. I know how to work systematically i.e. handling work step by step, and apply Industrial Engineering principles/concepts (Line balancing, Quality check assistance, Template drawing, Layout designs, use standard times as the basis of most production lines, Work in a team and as an individual to deliver results, conduct time studies, supply chain, continuous improvement, template drawing, cost-saving and facility Layout designs.

Pros: diligent worker
Cons: no growth

Excellent learning

In light of current developments around BEPS my role is currently focused on compiling Sasol Limted’s Local File and Masterfile as well Country by Country Reporting. The above mentioned 3 tier reports are cutting edge, so it’s very exciting and rewarding to be involved in the very first drafts of these for the Sasol Group. I have excellent people skills and get along very well with my co-workers.

Pros: Great learning opportunities available
Cons: Limited promotional opportunities

I am a muture male , very much interested in the vaccancy.

I find challenging in my job is negations of contract with a monopoly supplier. I have a family like relationship, with the up and downs on work issues but all can be managed I have learnt that there is no one answer to a question in the contracting environment I enjoy deliberating to the team and suppliers on their performance , identify the gaps that are seen in the operational environment

Pros: great opportunity
Cons: limited growth

Self starter with bias for action

I am currently not employed after I was retrenched in December 2014. I used to work normal working hours from Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 16:30. I had a productive and cordial working relationship with by subordinates and co-workers.

Pros: Willing to relocate to anywhere in the world
Cons: Working shifts

Excellent learning opportunities, dynamic environment, stimulating work, limited repetition

The current environment I work is dynamic and challenging to keep the company abreast of the changing environment globally. We work across divisions, functions and levels to optimise whatever the requirement is. Innovative thinking and willingness to learn new concepts is a daily requirement, e.g. impact of ESG on the WACC rate. I enjoy the work because its stimulating and constantly changing where challenging the status quo is the norm.

Pros: New ways of working and continous improvement is a daily requirement, the work is stimulating and cross boarder work remains interesting, e.g. pre Brexit vs post Brexit.
Cons: non identified, I am in the market because I will be at the same company and industry for 14+ years
