The environment that I am working in is very accommodating, hardworking, generous, goal driven with personal growth always in mind. I work with great people who loves working and getting things done, yet my co- workers are caring and always concerned. I find the fact that I am currently working without a salary very challenging but because of the environment I am enjoying the work and also very keen on doing my very best and going the extra mile as all of my colleagues. I am actively shadowing almost all the office staff in the department and they are willing to teach me what I want to know as they have the attitude " if you are willing to learn, we are willing to teach". I am a Business Managing student but I am learning so much more than what is specific to my course and that is all because the staff her in this department is always trying to help and empower.

Adverturous

Working for Saldanha Bay Municipality is an adventure as you never know what to expect on daily basis, under town planning department we work with different stake holders from highly professional to people on the ground. Very busy section with high volume of records that we deal with as you will be requires to refer to previous approvals and zoning scheme and municipal By-laws. We work as a team as we need each others inputs according to our specialities. Lessons learned: always keep records safe especially important documents received from clients as you as you might never know when to refer to them. Enjoy most when my seniors allow me to make certain decisions and value my input . Most challenge comes from the fact that I am the only land use officer for the entire Saldanha bay municipality of which at time I become overloaded with work as I need to meet dead lines specially for legal service hand overs

Pros: Great place to work and learn
Cons: There is no challenge any more after 10 years of service.

Quick to embrace

I am dynamic, enthusiastic hard working person who is highly motivated. The type of person who aim to succeed in everything I am doing. I am very determined and pro-active individual, I take the initiative to set my own path and seek guidance where I am not sure.

Pros: excellent opportunity for promotion
Cons: long work hours
