Opportunity for growth

The organisation was formerly known as Roshcon, but is now known as Eskom Rotek Industries. It has a very diverse culture. There is plenty opportunity for growth as they invest heavily in training. Employees are offered training on a regular basis and interns are interviewed regularly to be trained into the company. The most challenging aspects of the job is the rate at which people are promoted, as you could have a new man at the helm every 6 months.

Dedication beats talent

I'm a smart and hard working person. Focused,team work spirited and grew up in a family of people who fixed cars for a living. Safefty is always a priority in order to avoid unnecessary injuries.

Pros: It was a good company with good people, had a great experience and learning how workplaces operated was what I gained a lot from it.

BEE is a major setback in this industry

Unfortunately, many skilled experienced personnel have been replaced with young graduates who require new training (cost to company). They don't have mentors anymore, therefore the standard of work is being compromised. This has resulted in the highest LTI's (lost time injuries) that the company has ever experienced. It is a 'no win' situation and has also resulted in a high turnaround of personnel. My relationship with co-workers is purely professional. I have been with the company for over 7 years, employed on a temp basis through a labour broker. However a permanent position has never been offered as BEE quotas need to be filled instead.

Pros: A lot of training is offered to upgrade skills & development
Cons: There is no room for promotion in my position
