Rea Vaya Reviews

Well accumulated experience

It was a very busy company the experience was very exciting, having to interact with all sorts of people be it the shareholders, day to day clients, tourists and telephonically assisting people with all any any queries or concerns. It taught me multi tasking as well as communication in a number of languages. My most challenging experience was the limited amount of communication which made it look somewhat unprofessional.Above all the opportunity to grow myself as I worked independently and was given the opportunity to train other team members of my department on how to operate the switch board. My coworkers where easy to work with it felt like a family I wake up to go and be with for the rest of my day. Main sad challenge was the introduction of a sister company which we were subjected to working for without any pay from it.

Pros: A company providing room for growth
Cons: Normal working hours

Fantastic

On a normal day, I deal with all kinds of HR issues. I have a wonderful relationship with Organized Labour; Employees including EXCO and the Board Members. I have learned to work with individuals that come from the TAXI informal industry. I enjoy seeing people learning new things in doing their work, and how proud they become when they do the job. The most challenging in my job is going to work via Protests and Riots in Soweto. On average, there is two per month.

Pros: Not really since I am senior already reporting to the CEO.
Cons: Many employees (80%) have less than Grade 12

Excellent learning experience

Working at Rea Vaya was a learning experience for me, i learnt a lot of things from communication skills, working in groups, being punctual, working under pressure and be given duties to carry out on your own on a daily basis. Working with Rea Vaya staff was always a pleasure they were always willing to help where we were lacking, give advice for future. The challenging aspects were when we had to find solutions to our disagreements and agree on one final thing. The things I enjoyed the most was travelling when we had to go to stations for deliver notices of customers and employees.

Pros: Great opportunity for getting the right skills for workplace
Cons: no over time payment
