Excellent learning curve

The company where i am working is a nice place to learn the civil engineering work, because it is a small company therefore you have to do almost everything that is done there. It teaches me perseverance and how to get along with people because in site you meet different characters, some are good and some not very good but in the end you get to see if tou can handle those characters. As a site agent a lot is required of me because i have to work at the office and on site at the same time and make sure that eveything is in order. The only thing i dislike about my job is that i am not being compensated accordingly when i look at what a civil engineering technician should be earning, and in the area that i am living in which is gauteng i need to be earning around the money that is specified on the job description in order for me to survive without complaining about not having money all the time.

Pros: Great opportunity for learning
Cons: Long working hours without proper compensation

Great learning experience in the construction industry.

- Submission of the work planned for the day to the client, and reports on the work done the previous day. Managing the team on site making sure they have all the materials and tools needed to complete the tasks for the day. Putting in inspection requests for the work done, attending weekly progress meetings and managing the health and safety aspect of the job, to make sure that all the health and safety protocols are adhered to. The most challenging aspect of the job is getting materials delivered on time from the suppliers. I have a strong team that listens, and do the work according to the client's recommendations.

A friend is helping until a get a job

I'm a site agent at Rams project managers , I'm running a site where we are doing routine road mantanance. I have worked with Goba consulting engineers in rehabilitation of roads, weigh bridges etc. Also worked with Trans-africa projects doing construction of power lines for Eskom

Pros: promotion will be a good bonus for me
Cons: Don't have a problem with that
