Learning Great Plains Accounting

A jack of all trades is what I'm known as. Loving every aspect of my job including getting my hands and head into difficult situations. Liaising with Managers & staff and understanding what makes the business and difficulties experienced . Problem solving and ensuring that what needs to be done in the days moving towards month end get done, trying to make it easier for financials to be completed as accurately as possible and with the strict deadline this is of the utmost importance. The single most rewarding time was working with a Great Plains consultant developing the following reports: Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Branch reports, Bidvest reports & flash reports which make the reporting at month end simple as possible and not wasting time trying to figure out the layouts. There are many other reports which over time that were developed.

Pros: Leaning a new accounting package and a stock system
Cons: Very long working hours

Operationally involved. Great learning curve. Enjoy interacting with all employees.

Interaction with employees on all levels . Sound business decision making skill set. Analysis of various aspects of the business to ensure maximum growth is achieved. Manage IT environment, HR aspects. Enjoy operational aspect of the business. Working and interacting with other departments of the business.

Pros: Great learning curve. Working with dynamic people who challenge the norm.
Cons: Long working hours, lack of leave
