Professional company with excellent knowledge of Project Mnagement principles

Projectlink offers a support function in project management to clients who may know some project management but lack the true understanding of governance and integration throughout the project set-up. I spend my time going to steercoms and presenting progress and developments within the project programme. My relationship with co-workers and clients is good and proactive. There is an old culture within South African mining companies but Lonmin has some young vice presidents and its a pleasure working in an environment where you are valued and you value them. Unfortunately I have not personally learnt very much other than to become more patient and listen more. I an empowered and I get to work on some large BSO programmes. The people are the main challenge. Mining cultures are harsh.

Too much travelling

Most of my day is spent educating my client on the governance and integration of project management systems. I help them structure the project and create their schedules and on a weekly basis measure their progress and pull reports and steercom presentations.

Pros: I get to use modern systems
Cons: Constant battle with non empowered culture
