Excellent opportunity to grow laterally with regard to exposure and knowledge

Managing staff Liaise with CEOs and Senior client management Analyse causes of business decline Analyse and approve business turnaround strategies have a full understanding of how all sectors and industries operate and business decline happens in all of them Manage projects, including budgets, scope, traveling, outcomes and timelines. Manage outsourced consultants with regard to quality and on-time-delivery of business turnaround projects Attend and address management committee Attend and report to funder board of directors meetings Train staff and external consultants (on the job training) Train client staff and management on productivity (and business performance) measurement and improvement Review and improve systems and processes of my unit Report writing and approving invoicing of outsourced consultants

Pros: Exposure to all sectors and industries, one becomes well-rounded, making a difference by saving companies from decline and loosing jobs
Cons: Long hours, extensive travelling, limited human resources and a lot of work

Job success and challenges

Reviewing business requirements and financial analysis. Focus on writing proposals for projects. Travel to clients and determine the problems they face within the business. Putting together a project team for implementation and implementing productivity solutions. Investigation of data formulation and development of solutions to train internal staff members to focus on change and improving the business. Signing of improvement solution reports from team members and cost structure with invoice from other resource teams. Final report formulation to client with presentation. Team members not willing to participate in difficult projects and hiding behind the boss for cover. Presenting results to senior members with totally opposite views. Getting into a position mix. I learnt to communicate and present at any level within an organisation. Taken one for the team in the most serious and difficult circumstances within the business environment and mostly in the political office/municipal space.

Pros: The different industry's in which consulting work was done. Focus on helping the client. Investigation on improving the business and investment funding
Cons: Long hours of travel across the country. Working in a highly politic environment and I'm not talking about office politics.

Great industry exposure

I love working for Productivity SA and I can merge all my skill’ set acquired from automotive. I get to work with various organizations from date owned to private sector and in multiple industries. The team is supportive and fun to work with. The challenge in this organization is bias and autocratic leadership. But a great place to learn about the challenges that come with running a business. I get to work with professional experience company owner and/ leaders and family owned businesses.

Pros: Great exposure in all industry sectors
Cons: No room for growth

Media Liaison Manager

My duties entail internal communication, magazine and annual report production, media liaison plus operations management. I typically start a day with meetings. I draft speeches, press releases etc. I also visit media houses and attend various functions or visit companies to collate material. I am the “go to guy” though oft it can oft misalign my diary.

Pros: Exposure to various sectors.
Cons: Burocratic government procedures though understandable.

I am a young lady who is a hard worker and do all tasks to the best of my ability

A typical day I would do all admin duties and also help staff members with admin. I have a good relationship with all my collegues because we work closely with each other. since I have been in this company I have learnt a lot and gain experience. I enjoy doing events and networking with clients. My job is not challenging to me even though I come across nasty clients I know exactly how to deal with a difficult client.

Pros: the pros in this company is that there are study opportunities for staff.
Cons: working far from home
