New challenge required

We have been like a close knit family at work where we work closely with all colleagues from the sisters, admin clerk and the frontshop assistants. We have routine days of dispensing and interaction with patients in between training, managing and supevising. We pride ourselves in confidentiality and patient counseling and trust. Most challenging is ensuring effective treatment for low to no income patients. I enjoy helping patients on ground floor level where more than often we are the 1st port of call with regard to their health.

Pros: Personal satisfaction
Cons: No opportunity for growth and promotion

Brilliant company to be employed with. Company was bought over 3 years ago.

Brilliant company for employment growth, and moving forward. There was endless possibilities within the company to move forward. So basically now I'm unemployed driving staff to and from work in the informal sector.

Pros: There was definitely great opportunity to grow in the company and become promoted
Cons: We had our off days where we needed to work weekends as well. Not that I minded the extra cash.

Flexible, well-experienced, can adapt to many working environments

I really enjoy working with people, and being a pharmacist makes me feel that I contribute to society in a meaningful way. I am a very good team-player; I really enjoy supervising and teaching interns and assistants, as well as patient counselling; I feel that this one-on-one communication with the patient can be extremely meaningful to them. I enjoy working in a team with co-workers from whom I can learn. The most challenging aspect of working as a locum pharmacist, for me, is the lack of definite stability, and having to travel far.

Pros: flexibility as to working times/dates
Cons: Lack of proper job security.
