Pros: To liaise with all clients, ascertaining their requirements and co-ordinating these needs to ensure the successful execution of the function, To show the client the various facilities available, advising and discussing the merits of the various options, To monitor and control provisional and confirmed function bookings, and ensure that no double bookings occur, To up-date function sheet and advise all departments once confirmation of the function is received

Good learning curve

The hotel is filled with really great people who are all hard working and serious about success. A typical day at work starts at 7am with reading emailsand catching up on handovers left during the night. Morning meetings with all heads of departments starts promptly at 9am and last for less that 30minutes. After morning meeting, a quick walk-about of the property to assess what work needs to be done and what has been completed. Checking in with specific departments along the way to ensure that help is given where needed. I spent about 3-4 hours doing administrative work per day - where emails are sent and received and spread-sheets for particluar projects, budgets or information are put together. We have many meetings and EXco matters are discussed like HR and Finance and Commercial - sales and marketing. I am also very actively involved in all projects for refurb and re-design on the property and this in itself can be very time-consuming but lots of fun and excitement as well.

Pros: Lots of room for learning and growth
Cons: Be completely self sufficient

It is a different experience however not what my expectation was

I love challenges and everyday has a different challenge. There is lots of ups and downs currently but it can be handled. I love helping my colleagues and they will come to me with all there problems. For me it is a challenge if there is a struggle in getting payment and I'm the one to get it. As I always say is how you handle the situation it gives great joy to see that you beat a challenge. I don't just do my work I assist my colleagues in other departments as well. And I keep them on there toes as I can be very persistent in getting things done.

Pros: There is no growth at the company for me
Cons: Hours for me it not bad

Team work, how to answer the calls, how to speak to the guest, how to solve the guest problem

I`m using opera, do wake -up calls for the guest, print emails for them,do group rooming list create the rooms, do profiling for the British airways crew, check the group in, set wake-up calls if necessary, answering the phone and put through where it belongs, check-in and check-out the guest ,take payments from the guests. We work as a team with my colleagues. I learn how to answer the phone in a professional manner and how to speak to the guest. I enjoy when i`m answering the phone, solve the guest problems. You meet different people from different countries the others they can`t speak English properly but you can see or hear what he or she want to say.

Pros: Great opportunity for promotion
Cons: Long working hours

I've learnt to work with people and be able to work as efficiently as possible under pressure.

I love working at President hotel, I have learnt customer service skills, I communicate with people better and able to relate to different people. I've learnt to work under pressure while not compromising the quality of service we give to our customers. I have definitely learnt a lot since I've started working with the company, it has been a great learning curve.

Excellent learning curve

sometime 3 days and 3 nights or 5 straights night per week. excellent relations with workers in different department. i have learnt how to adapt to a different environment I enjoy the most be around peoples and have a laughter the most challenging is dealing with most cases of theft almost every week
