Excellent Integrator

My typical day starts up by following up on my team's progress, challenge areas and potential risks. My day is then concentrated on the risks and coming up with risk mitigation ways of attending to the risk. My key roles is to work with various departments, share knowledge and progress. My day also involves sharing knowledge and information with my peers and subordinates. I also make contact with the various key stakeholders in the project so as to ensure the relationship is good and the project meets their requirements. My biggest learning is working with people of different cultures and backgrounds. My greatest enjoyment is when my key stakeholders value the project output and when team members take ownership of their task . My most challenging aspect is working with stakeholders do not see the value in Team building.

Pros: flexible working hours, learning new cultures and coming up with innovative ways of stimulating the team
Cons: long hours, late travelling, away from home

Transformation

I am a Procurement Professional with 12 years of overall experience in the Procurement environment and currently working for a leading supplier of Cement in Southern Africa: PPC Ltd. I enjoy developing and implementing transformation (ESD) or procurement strategies that will improve the life's of the co-workers and communities around were the company operate through suitable and meaningful transformation. Most difficult aspect about transformation from the DMR and DTI perspective is to develop a strategy that will address both pieces of legislation and also be aligned to the Group Strategy and Social Economic development (SLPs).

Good career building/ stepping stone

PPC has always had a good competitive and agile culture, which is a thriving environment for hard working individuals. On staff level people generally has very good open relationship and are very supportive. Although the work can be very challenging, due to slowdown in the overall industry has lead to continual postponement for exciting projects. The current lack of development opportunities is the biggest frustration currently among staff and limits their abilities, which in turns makes them less employable in industry.

Pros: Good learning culture and transparent objectives
Cons: Long working hours in remote areas and reluctance to transform

Excellent learning experience

Collaborated with Business Heads to drive operations to achieve business operational excellence through the execution of the business strategy consistently and reliably. I have a good relationship with co-workers, that was proven by getting an award for best leadership. I learnt that my I only achieved my goal successfully if I have developed my successor. I enjoy the most sharing information in the form of real life stories whereby even the lowest level employee can relate.Coaching and mentoring is also another field I enjoy the most. The most challenging aspects of my recent job was to motivate the business heads to fully buy-inn into the business strategy.

I can work well under pressure

I have worked in a healthy environment were seniors dont have to continuously look over your shoulder, come in at work and enjoy what I do everyday. Colleagues were always a pleasure to work with and team workers. I enjoy working with numbers and can build good relationships with customers.
