Great opportunity to start an IT Risk and Compliance function (as there is no framework)

The corporate environment is conducive for great collaboration, professional relations. I am most excited about playing a pivotal role in corporatisation of my organisation (i.e. in the organisation being able to obtain a banking license). I enjoy: - providing guidance on managing risks and imparting knowledge on how IT management need to be effectively managing risks within their areas of responsibilities; - providing leadership and guidance on the IT compliance management and devolving responsibilities where they should lie; - Documenting and reviewing IT policies in line with good practice; and - Managing stakeholders in ensuring that they provide quality and timely services and deliverables. Although I have audited service level management, the actual compilation of a service level agreement between the South African Post Office and Postbank, has been the greatest pleasure and exposure.

Communication, feedback, networking and working in team and alone

I'm the first line after the CFO for all financial queries, I efficient and effective finance support is provide to all stakeholders of the organisation. This would include providing finance and interpreting results, evaluating the financial component of all projects etc. I lead a team of 25 employees and were I advocate the importance of clear communication and team work. Postbank has a growing bank has teach me the importance of perseverance, working smartly and being adventurous (move from my comfort zone). I have enjoyed the opportunities that were t not necessarily finance related e.g applying for the banking licence and also leading the team that separated Postbank from South African Post Office. Most challenging has to be the culture, which slowly is beginning to change.

Pros: The opportunities of creating a fully full fledged state bank was a great learning for me.
Cons: The culture that did not acknowledge excellency and reprimand mediocrecy.

Great Opportunities

Im currently working at bank as a network engineer managing the companies data center. It quit challenging sometimes because daily we deal with transactions going through the companies infrastructure. we have few employees it becomes easy to have good health relationship with the co-worker, We work as a team to achieve one single goal. Since i came here at PostBank i have learned lot of things including banking system, storage and backups. I enjoy working at a data center
