Pick n Pay Retailers Reviews

Excellent learning curve

Great to deal with customers and the way I've trained to handle difficult customers, team work is important, inter act with workers know they are workers draw a line even if you know all of their personal lives. Health and safety measures being followed at all times taking workers to trainings how to stay safe. Case handling and handling conflicts between workers and management skills of discipline knowing policy is important a lot, in Order not to do wrong following policy is wonderful. Leadership skills not being a boss is important, respect treat others the way you want to be treated, don't talk any how manner of approach is important, but at the end be the manager who is strict bit don't close doors for people to talk to you about any work issues and other times personal even though I'm a manager I'm also a social worker, management is broad.

Pros: I need to see myself getting promote and learn more
Cons: Retail needs bodies it's not a problem when the company needs me I will be there

my day is filled with tasks ranging from being a cashier to searching for stock in the store room or sitting on the pc the whole day doing inventory checks and reports. I manage 3 staff members and close to 30 outside merchandisers and one thing my subordinates commend me is the humility I possess. it makes it easy to work with people when you listen to the them and share ideas. My boss relies me for a lot of brain work and computer related stuff.I do a lot of on the job coaching for new managers because inventory is the heart of the business, so profits are tied to the accuracy of the company's inventory. I have learned that I will not always be right, everyone has something to be taught and something to teach. I have learned a lot about supply and demand, gross and net profits, expenses and all that makes a business a success. challenge is that there is no promotion in my line of work. its the glass ceiling position.

Pros: experience is not only retail specific
Cons: no promotion

Day to day activities in a supermarket with 100 employees

Throughout my career, I have come had to overcome a lot of obstacles and with that I feel that any challenge is a learning curve to be the best in your job. I find myself very adaptable to new circumstances, and will not shy away from problems that arise from day to day rather tackle them head on, with proven or logical solutions. I have very good relationships with my co workers as well as staff members as they enjoy my patients to work with then rather than to sit around and doing nothing. during the course of my career I have learned alot about working with suppliers right through to staff up until customers and all about logistics behind every single of those aspects. The biggest challenge in my job is to fulfill the needs of upto 3000 customers everyday

Pros: Learned alot about great customer service
Cons: Working with minimum resources

Customer complaints

- There is a lot of pressure in working at a retail - The manager always insist on saving money by cutting employee hours so you end up having more work with minimum staff - retail hours are longer and one is required to work even on weekends and public holidays. - On a typical work day, I check the Frontline department. Check if everything is in order and if the place is ready for business because that is the interaction point between customers and employees. Check other department areas to see if hygiene is up to standard and the quality of products is in good order. Check all promotional lines if they are available and if there is visible signage for customers to see. Check email to see any customer complaints and respond if necessary. Check refunds control sheet and action. Assist cashiers with cash drops and cash up. My relationship with co workers is great.

Pros: Good for learning
Cons: Long working hours, less staff more work

Excellent learning curve

I like working as team, merchandising, discussing turnover and competing amongst each other turnover per section range, working with them helps me to know them better like showing them how to relay what where it's a challenging job you need to do all alone satisfy customers, your leaders explaining why you didn't make turnover daily, large rage of stock and make sure every stock at the warehouse is at the floor. Managing everything exception reports admin deal with suppliers it's a lot of things.

Pros: I need to see myself getting promote and learn more
Cons: Retail needs bodies it's not a problem when the company needs me I will be there

Excellent place to work

When I joined pick n pay I thought it was a place I can grow somewhere where, as an individual you can get opportunities but it never happened like that, if you don't have fimaly member(relative) in the company the opportunities are rare to get. Relationship with my colleagues is perfect. I learnt a lot about retail and how it works. I learnt to work with a team and as well as individual, I can work very well under pressure and I learnt how to solve problems. The most challenging in stores is when there change store managers now and then.

Pros: Great opportunity to learn about a customer
Cons: Normal working hours
