Great oppurtunity to grow and learn

I worked in the online branch, therefore we dealt mostly with clients telephonically or via email. My clients would pop into the office every now and then to say hello or deliver gifts. This was always nice as relationship was important in order to ensure great service. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about travel itself as well as the ins and outs of the industry. It's a tough industry but so worth it when you have team and colleagues who value the same thing - a love for travel and discovery. My colleagues became family very quickly. We had fun friday's every week to strengthen our bond as an office as well as individually. The most challenging aspect of the job was to maintain great time management with what is on your desk to deliver to clients as well as new clients calling in.

Pros: Growth was a pro to this job - personal and in dealing with all kinds of people
Cons: stress management - if you didn't have a personal routine stress would play a big role

The best start in the Travel Industry.

My day-to-day tasks involve making sure that all my work is up to date, making sure that my clients are taken care of and that my admin is up to scratch. It's also important that I read up on any new travel updates and news that may potentially affect my bookings or future plans. I have a great team working environment, I get to know all my colleagues and make sure that they are as fully assisted which is empowering and effective for a travel office. I have learned that travel is ever-changing and we need to keep up with trends, social media and the competition is always waiting to take over. What I enjoy showing them that great customer care still exists and coming up with great quotes and taking them on dream trips. I love to build and maintain relationships. The most challenging aspects are the factors that are out of our control such as the rate of exchange, negligence by airlines and suppliers and difficult clients.

Pros: Great prospects of travel
Cons: Working weekends

Good recognition and company culture.

Overall a great company in terms of providing training to help us do our job more efficiently. Recognition and relationships were one of the values that kept high when boosting morale of the company. On a regular day, we had a great atmosphere in the office, we liaised and built relationships with companies and suppliers, served clients in person, telephonically and on email. We had targets to reach.

Pros: Great daily environment, recognition for achievements.
Cons: Salary

E.g excellent learning curve

A typical work day is monotonous and very slow. It is hard to get through the day without a consultant gossiping about you or being undermined by senior executives.

Pros: e.g Good Face-to-Face cusotmer engagement and consulting
Cons: e.g Poor salary and commision structure for the amount of work done in a day, Month & year; Lack of growth within the company

Fast Learner

Work hours, depending on the shop that you are employed at, starts at 08:00 and ends at 18:00. Pentravel staff see themselves, and are, a family where help is always given freely and willingly. Training is conducted in such a manner that maximum information retention is retained and is done by making training sessions fun and interactive. The workload is particularly heavy during the first couple of months of the year and assistance is provided when needed. The most challenging aspect of the workday is clients wanting to travel the world with a budget that barely gets them down the road.

Pros: Travel
Cons: Low Salary
