Pearson Reviews

Experience gain

My day to day consists of supporting staff with IT related issues and assisting with student issues as well. The most challenging aspect of the job is time management between staff and students and keeping everyone satisfied. In the IT field it is always upgrading and always changing.

Pros: Great working environment and benefits
Cons: Minimal progression opportunities

Good learning opportunities but expected to fulfill many roles

Good working relationship with colleagues. Good communication channels exist between myself and my colleagues. I show people how to do things whilst doing it with them. I lead from the front whilst moving through the pack to make sure no one stays behind. Being a good communicator means that my staff and students know what is going on at all times and are well-informed of important due dates and events.

Pros: Good learning opportunity
Cons: Limited growth opportunities

Started as a key account manager, was promoted to the marketing department as a marketing specialist

When I started out at Pearson the company had great values. Teams were kind and supportive of one another, rewards were good and there was stability in the company with clear rules, expectations and ethical behaviours. All this change as time passed and people became despondent, weighed down by heavy workloads and many many retrenchments.

Pros: Learning opportunity
Cons: Long hours, massive workload, many retrenchments, low morale

Liaising and building long term relationships with existing and potential clients. Ensuring the client is at the heart of our business. • Manage teams from 5 – 10 consultants. • Create appropriate marketing strategies for brand awareness in Gauteng, Limpopo, Western Cape Provinces and Namibia. • Direct marketing of products to potential clients via presentations on and off site to groups from 10 to 300 or one-on-one contact sessions.

Pros: Travel
Cons: Salry

Excellent learning experience

Good company, but financially struggling. Market not aligned, difficult to get clients. Exec not open to advise. Good relationship with co-workers, enjoy the environment and hard work, good team work. What was challenging is a team that worked in the company for too long, and are resistant to change.

Pros: Exposure to all aspects of the company
Cons: No growth opportunities
