Language meets culture

Teaching Americans IsiZulu as a functional language. Mainly we engage with trainees who will graduate to be volunteers at a site where they will teach English. Within the company,Language and Cross-cultural facilitators work closely with Language and Cross-cultural coordinator and Programme managers who makes sure that the selected volunteers try by all means to learn the language facilitated by us, LCFs. We also work hand in glove with trainees through teaching them not only about language, but the South African culture too. Language teaching takes place at a site, chosen by the selected people within the organisation. Therefore, language teaching takes place in that site and not at the office. So, LCFs work mainly at site teaching language and culture. The sessions are structured to suit the trainees and LCF. Starting the language sessions at 8:00 until 12:00, unless otherwise.

Pros: Opportunity for growth
Cons: Long working hours

My Review

I work 40 hours a week, hours are flexible as long as i work the 40 per week. i have great relationships with all the staff. i have learned to be more resilient and i enjoy seeing the impact i make. the most challenging thing about my job is the weight of the work compared to the compensation.

Pros: amazing impact in the lives of individuals and the community
Cons: salary
