Learning curve

Parmalat is a company that run 24/7 none stop production with a maintenance team of only 12 technicians and those 12 have alot to cover from processing to filling to downstream equipment to conveyors to robots and cover CIP (cleaning In Place) with 2 technicians on a shift. What I've learn from parmalat is how to work under pressure with the standby duties you are alone and must think out of the box with production behind you there is alot of politics around my co-workers but I can handle it and what I injoy is I learn everyday something new.

Pros: You can grow in this company
Cons: Long hours over weekends

To good to be true

Your typical workday starts at 7:30 and ends at 17:00. On this site everybody knows everybody and all gets along. During my years working here I was allowed to do some short courses and one I have enjoyed the most was the CCMA training. What I enjoy most is to do what I am good at and I am given the chance to explore myself. The most challenging aspect of my work is that we move in a fast growing industry and there is no time to waste. You need to think on your feet the whole time and demands and expectations are high.

Pros: Company allow further studdies
Cons: Not all employees are treated the same

A new experience

A typical day at Parmalat in my position as Assistant Accountant includes checking and signing off on creditors payments. I also follow up with vendors on all outstanding invoices. I also prepare the budget files for all the managers of the different departments. I am also responsible for handling the Assets and keeping a Work in progress file for all the projects on site. During month end I am responsible for balancing of the Intercompany accounts and all the ledger entries. I also assists with stocktake on month end. I also monitor all expenses against the budget and if it is allocated to the right vote and department.

Pros: Great learning curve
Cons: Not much growing
