Company Culture

When I started at the company, it was managed regionally which was great. You had responsibility and accountability for your regional office. However, as the restructuring started, teams were Account Aligned and even though you're responsible for deliverable, it becomes increasingly difficult to be flexible and support teams due to all the policies, procedures and red tape. It takes months for staff to be recruited. Standard Operating Procedures are cumbersome and too detailed heavy which cause quality issues on nearly every single project. The company culture is one of fighting fires and putting on band-aids as appose to taking a step back to see what is the most important thing that can be done today to move a project or the division forward today.

Pros: For early career development
Cons: Long working hours, understaffed and no career development once you've reached a certain level.

Working across culture

It's a very challenging work environment, where you learn on a daily basis and there is a very good place for development as you learn. We work globally, across cultures and different time zones. I have learnt to accommodate other people working abroad, as its less likely that you would hear them clearly over the phone when on the teleconferences, you need to follow up on email to confirm what you discussed over the phone. I enjoy working with people, and I enjoy assisting others as it opens more room to know my work better.

Pros: Flexible working hours, core time
Cons: Under resourced due to retrenchment
