Paarl Media Reviews

A typical days work

I work in a very fast paced production environment where juggling of different balls is all in a normal days work, coupled with thinking on your feed for quick decision making and responses. A typical day begins with reviewing past 24hours performance, mainly focussing on targets missed and problem areas as a priority. A factory walk about to understand current status quo in terms of both health & safety, housekeeping and production while meeting and briefly chatting to staff at the same time. Next is compiling a daily report to discuss past 24hrs and the days/week plan. Gemba meetings are daily routine for maximum 1 hour but ideally half an hour daily, where action plans are drawn up and conclusions made on the way forward in response to operational requirements.

Pros: Currently being groomed for a GM position.
Cons: Distance away from home and family.

Excellent Company to work for

It actually great working for this company ,I like the culture and the way we work together as colleagues ,we always help one another ,we have this great team spirit ,there is always support, its just that we doing quite a lot of skills as we are all multi skilled in my department. We are underpaid but we working hard doing a lot of duties. There some days that you work hard and and be under a lot of pressure. One thing about my is that you never stop learning they make sure that you train to be perfect for certain position so that you can be professional and competent for that position, meaning that you gain a lot of skills but no growth. The most challenging part is that you fins out some missing stock and work hand in hand your Supervisor and your collegaeus.

Pros: Great Company to gain skills and experience.
Cons: You working long hours and it depends if you working shifts or just normal 40 hours a week.

Excelent learning oppotunity

-I work shifts depending on which shift I work on the responsibilities are different, morning would entail more planning, ordering of casual labour & admin work. Afternoon would entail more production, controlling staff, accuracy & efficiency. The night shift would entail more house keeping, admin & data capturing. -I am currently a supervisor and I try and instil team work, dedication & motivation within my team. We enforce the rules and mutual respect for each others responsibilities. -Production controlling, time keeping, customer satisfaction & requirements & meeting deadlines. -Balancing pressure and accuracy.

Pros: Great experience on production controlling
Cons: Flexy shifts

Excellent Learning Curve

- We have normal 9-5 working a day, always busy and assisting within department. - I enjoy working with everyone, we get things done as a team, I get to know a lot of the production workers on a personal level as I have built a relationship with quite a few employees. -I have gained most of my Payroll Administration skills and experience her at Paarl Media, I also completed my Qualification here. - I enjoy the scope I am given it assisted me with a lot of growth. - the most challenging aspect would be the culture of pressure, not a lot of employees take responsibility of the duties which then becomes the problem of the hard workers.

Pros: Good growth Opportunities
Cons: continuous restructuring
