Oxford University Press Reviews

Had the best learning experience

I spent three weeks working as an intern at Oxford University Press alongside two other great Designers. The experience was so amazing because of the special attention and Kindness we where receiving from the staff members. We where treated so kindly that it almost felt like we have been working there for some time, "it felt like home". Me and my two colleagues worked closely together, this allowed us to know more about each other and also learn from each other. A typical day at work would involve us planning our calendar, discussing and sketching artwork, allocating tasks that are still due amongst ourselves, and attending meetings with seniors from different departments. We would receive a brief from a department, brainstorm about it, then we decide what can each of us do according to our strong points. Collaborating on briefs made our jobs even easier, as this allowed us to meet deadlines sooner than expected. My strong point is working on illustrator.

Pros: Many opportunities, Great people to work with, its also a safe and fun environment
Cons: Far from where I stay.

They offer oppertunities for you to grow yourself (furthering your studies)

Everyday is so different when coming to work, nothing is the same and you basically learn new parts of the job everyday. We are like a little family at Oxford University Press, and we all get along very well. You are know by name by the MD, HR and all Management. I have learnt that everyone is not the same, and the Company pays for all my studies, currently completed my NQF5 in Generic Management. My current position, I work with Kiddies books, and absolutely enjoy this the most. I find that the most challenging part of the job is to always think on your feet, as you deal with Customers and their expectations and how to always keep them happy. Costs in all companies are huge right know, and how you have to manage your budgets.

Pros: Everybody is friendly and always willing to assist you. You don't feel like not getting out of bed and coming to work.
Cons: It takes a long time to get Promotions within the company and bonusses are not gauranteed

NOT SURE WHAT TO WRITE HERE

I hereby would like to apply for above mentioned position. I am a hardworking individual who enjoys the challenge of a deadline driven environment. I am eager to learn more as I believe in constantly developing my interpersonal and professional skills. Every challenge that comes my way is met with discipline and commitment. I am goal driven and flexible thus enabling myself to adjust to situations. I believe in planning ahead and am clear in my decision making abilities. Attached please find my curriculum vitae.

Excellent learning curve

A typical working day would be converting cash quotations to orders. Capturing payments. Filing on paper trail. Preparing refunds. Sending weekly reports. Dealing with both internal and external customers, call centre. I work in a small team of 3, I enjoy working in smaller groups as well as independently. I have learnt how to deal with difficult customers internally and externally in a better manner and did a short course on that subject too. I enjoy capturing payments, I enjoy reconciling my cash account. The most challenging aspects would be dealing with irate and rude customers.

Pros: Good company to work for, in terms of stability and convenience
Cons: Not really any opportunity for growth

Excellent company culture

Love company to work for in general. Hard working individuals all round. Great company culture. Fantastic learning opportunities. A typical working day depends on the time of year. It gets busy most of the time but also gets rely slow at times. The senior managers are knowledgeable and approachable and are always there to guide and mentor.

Pros: Great learning opportunities
Cons: Lack of communication from senior executives
