Cobol Programmer, Web service development on the AS400. Implimenting vat changes

Recons Assist junior programmers, testing their programs. Cobol development. Assist end users. Test programs. I have a good relationship with co-workers. Willing to help and put in extra hours to assist my co-workers so they can do what is expected from them. I have learnt that with hard work comes good results. Going the extra mile does pay. I enjoy when the user and co-workers work good together. When tasks are completed in time. If tasks take longer than allocated time, programmers should ask for assistance in advance. Most challenging aspects was to decide with which technology to go for with the implementation of web services. A lesson I have learned is that a person that doesn't work, does not make mistakes.

Hard worker

Lots of traveling

Great learning experience but work long and hard hours and get a basic small salary. Not alot of care for the workers, they'll rather replace you than look after your needs.

Great work, great experience

I enjoy coming to work everyday. I work with about 300 people daily. It is great to work with different people, dealing with different situations daily. I get on well with my fellow colleagues. Since i started working here my job has evolved a lot, and i am now al ot more involved with the employees on a professional level. I have learnt that being patient and treating people fairly and in a good manner will only better your relationship with them and also help in achieving my specified job outcomes. the language barriers are often challenging, however i always find a way to get through it, and help people however i can.

Excellent learning curve

The company has a great working culture, but the management is extremely narrow minded. It cover a big portion of South Africa and has over 10 000 stakeholders. The opportunities are great, but limited due to EE.

I would like to get a new challenge to prove and built more experiences and a lot of knowledge.

First of all I like to work with the farmers you learn a lot from them. There are always different customers who wants different products and it is challenging for you to get them from different suppliers that's what I enjoy the most. It like to help my co-worker when he/she is stuggling with something.My stock must always be right and in order and what I had learn is that I must do my work to the best of my ability, and what I enjoy the most is when my customer is leaving my shop with a smile, and the most challenging about my job is month end that everything must be done and in order before you move on to the next level.
