Orion Group Reviews

Great opportunity

Orion Group appointed me to set up the internal audit department for their hotel and properties. Reporting to both EXCO on hotels as an audit manager, reporting to Audit committee as a CAE, working with both the CEO and the CFO on special projects and assisting the legal depart is a great learning curve for me. what i have learned over the past year around governance is really coming handy, for example my understanding of pensions, investments, provident funds, compliance, legal and funeral benefit (short and long term insurance)

Pros: I have reached the ceiling of internal auditing, am on the learning curve of it and am regretful and humbled!
Cons: reporting as the Chief Audit Executive has forced me to do CA. It will take a couple of years to get it, as I need to first upgrade my diploma into a degree then I can sit for IAT which will take at least three years but am determined three years is not a lot.

Learning more about their culture

Gain lots of coaching sessions not much growth. Salaries fluctuates from to month you can't draft a budget if business is down.

Pros: No growth
Cons: Large Database for one person to manage
