My life at OBP challenges and triumphs.

As acting production manager, my days involved walking the plant to ensure production proceeded accordingly and problem solved as necessary. As I respect everyone irrespective of their educational or cultural status I was able to bring together R&D and Production departments which had hitherto been uncooperative with each other and this led to production of vaccines that had not been on the market for more than 3 years due to repeated batch failures. I have inculcated a culture of cGMP observance guidelines. My interpersonal skills encourage others to do their best. I enjoy evaluating new single use technologies that negate the need to validate cleaning and sterilization procedures. My frustration stems from the delay in the erection of a new cGMP compliant facility.

Pros: I hope to have my contract which ends on March 31st to be renewed. This is because as a SOC it is mandatory to retire at 60.
Cons: I do have to come in week-ends but I do not find that disturbing as I deal with microbes which do not stop growing simply because it is a week-end

Learning never ends

The most things that I like in our company, they give everyone opportunity to work in different department through that I have learnt more things and I understand company environment better by working overtime on weakened in Experimental animal department, where we take care of animals by giving them foods, as they have to eat everyday and Packaging department if they have more orders. My relationship with my co-workers is good and it helped me a lot since I started to work in our company as a learner but through their advice & support I manage to come where I am now. As an Administrator most of the job that aspects is lots of filing as we deal with paper work and the records must be clear, filed properly that will be easily trace and paying attention into details. I enjoy my work even thou it needs me to plan properly as I am doing admin for two departments

Hard working

I have a previous experience with this position I worked at Onderstepoort Biological Product as Electrical Technician, my daily duties was fault finding, troubleshooting, Plc, use schematic diagrams and blueprint to wire and design electrical panels and repair electrical equipments such as relays, motor, lights, plugs, pumps, VSD, autoclave, repair roller apparatus.

Excellent learning curve

Interacting with both the internal customers and the suppliers. Requesting quotations and placing of orders on a daily basis guided by the national treasury. Receiving of goods on the system and making sure that it matches with the actual order. Stock Take monthly. There are two interns currently and the relationship with them is good. I have a very good working relationship with my manager. Stock Management updating and amendments of the SOPs

Learning new skills and accumulating experience.

Since working at this company i have acquired a lot skills in my line of work and experience in industrial refrigeration. And limits have been tested.

Job review

A very good work experience and being part of the team. There is no pressure because everyday we plan work for the next day. Being able to work unsupervised and still deliver. A very good chance to study further as every year bursaries are granted. It is a very nice place to work in, but growth opportunity are very few.

I am a very hardworking and determined individual

I have a very strong character, can be able to work as a team and I like sharing Ideas with my colleagues. What I have is that I need to put more effort in each and every work I do and stay focused. I enjoy working with power tool, and using my hand to show my skills as being creative. Most challenging of the job is you need to be very careful, no horseplay in the workshop

I am currently working for OBP as animal caretaker

i learn very quick, am open to new environment, i can be a team player and i like challenges.I like working as team. i am brilliant under pressure problem solving skills analytical skills, assertive skills and interpersonal skills..
