Great opportunities for self improvement

The working hours was 07:00 to 15:30 which suited me for the simple reason that after work there is still enough time to do other things before dark. I enjoyed working at Transnet Engineering and got on well with my colleagues (White, Black, Coloured, Indian, Chinese). I had many opportunities to enhance my knowledge in the various technical fields available in the environment I worked in. What I enjoyed most was the different challenges which came my way especially designing lifting equipment for various applications such as locomotives (±88000 kg), diesel engines (±15000 kg), alternators (±2000 kg). The most challenging was a no rework/comeback achievement.

Pros: Had many opportunities to expand my knowledge
Cons: Had not many opportunities for promotion especially with the colour policy in the country

Pension jobs

Worked as an academic at the University of Johannesburg, being departmental head and lecturing to students. I like to deal with people and the interaction with them. Attention to detail is a priority to ensure that the task is completed effectively.

Pros: Research and continuous learning
Cons: poor intelligence from learners

Receiving Manager

Going to work was never bored. Everyday was different from the previous day. Learning something new, meeting new people everyday, that was great. There was always something too archive at work,due to this, working long hours somedays were no problem. Our department group was like one big family. We laugh together, we cry together, we eat together and we work together. Accept learning new work I also learnt to work with a group together. What I enjoy most in my work was helping the people that was working with me. Solving problems were the most challenging aspect of the job.
