Knowledge and grown potential

Not a normal 8-5pm job which is great. Flexible and ability to work remotely from anywhere as long as there is internet connectivity. Good relationship with vendors and colleagues Learning and growing each day re project management upskilling. Problem solving and multi tasking is a daily experience.

Great learning opportunities.

A typical day for me @ OM starts early @ 7am which is how I like it. After I have logged onto my pc,I get my refreshments for the morning in out communal kitchen. Then it work as usual mostly admin till 10am then it's tea time for 15 min then back to work making calls to clients locally & overseas including huddles, training which occurs intermittently as well as meetings till 1pm lunch for 45min. Then we work till 3pm & have tea for 15 min & our day ends @ 4pm. Everyday is different. New training, new work& different procedures. This job has taught me to Adapt & be open to change. Change is the only constant in all aspects of life. I am someone who is serious about my job because I know finding a job you are happy with is hard to find & value my job.

Excellent learning curve

Working at Old Mutual head office taught me how it is in the cooperate industry. Image is important because you represent the company. There is no mixing pleasure with business. Confidentially is very important. And work like to your full potential. I won several gifts for best worker for the week. Communication is key and humanity is a must have becsuse we all have different personalities and perspectives in life. This is to so make the business environment healthy without any negativity.

Old Mutual is an international investment, savings, insurance and banking group with an adjusted operating profit of £1,650 million. Big bureaucracy. Honest company. Not client centred.

Excited person

Every day is new day built with new challanges in working day, i look forward to the technical, mind eating problems because I enjoy a challange and then the people who works with me disappears of my focus to solve the task at hand. People in my environment will enjoy me as i am positive and a little bubbly in my free time. I love learning processes and then teaching them others. I also like to case studied on the work and the in flow.

Learning organisation

Old Mutual is the leader in the Insurance and Assurance industry within SA. They look after their staff both from a financial as well as personal growth perspective. They put staff development on the same level as their clients. Typical work day - plan your day in the morning. Set your goals for the day and then commence fulfilling them. You work mostly in a team environment where your team members all work towards a common goal. The facilities and opportunities at OM head Office is second to none.

Pros: Great opportunities to advance your career. Salaries are ver competitive.
Cons: Expectations can be overwhelming.

My typical work day

I deal with current and potential clients. Where we give financial advice on our products. We capture banking details as well as verify them on our systems. We update clients on their investment portfolios as well as give values on different portfolios. We deal with confidential client and company information where we need to conform to certain legislations that govern the industry. Submit stats on a daily basis and monthly. I have a great relationship with my colleagues even though it's a very fast paced environment where people need to work independently. I've leant that it's important to create a healthy work environment with colleagues, clients and management to fulfill our goals and targets.

Cons: long hours and heavy concentration and having to achieve targets
