I have joined Nampak Glass as a Project and Design manager - I believe this was a good move because I have learned what it meant to do a large project worth millions. It meant drawing up of a timing plan and all the activities that needs to happen. Appointing contractors for various projects and signing of contracts with penalties for each activity. Start of Project - all the contractors on site with each area demarcated and staff to go through induction. Meeting to ensure each activity has reached its coal by the end of each day. Controlling of cost - to ensure we do not over spent - we all know how extras and unforeseen problems can influence cost on a Project. Safety played a key roll - to ensure nobody gets injured. The feeling of success - on completion of commissioning and hand over to production meant a lot to me knowing we were on time and within budget.
