N/ANkomati Mine Nkomati Mine is located in the Machadodorp area of Mpumalanga province, 300km east of Johannesburg. Nickel mining takes place by means of an underground shaft as well as open-pit mining. Oxidised chromitite is also mined as part of the pre-strip of the future open pits. Ownership: ARM owns 50% of Nkomati Mine, Norilsk Nickel Africa (Pty) Ltd owns the remaining 50% Management: The mine is managed as a 50:50 unincorporated joint venture with Norilsk Nickel Africa Refining: All metal in concentrate produced (excluding chrome) is sold to Metal Trade Overseas AG, chrome concentrates are sold through marketing agents to various end users

CARE,GROW AND EXCEL

WELL WORK CAN BE VERY CHALLENGING SOMETIMES,SOMETIMES YOU WORK UNDER PRESSURE AND BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS. THE RELATIONSHIP WITH MY COLLEAGUES IS VERY GOOD WE UNDERSTAND ONE ANOTHER ALSO WE ARE BROTHER'S KEEPER WE PROTECT EACH OTHER. I HAVE LEARNT THAT SOME OTHER PEOPLE CAN BE DIFFICULT BUT WE HAVE TO FIND A COMMON GROUND AND WORK TOGETHER FINDING SOLUTIONS. I ENJOYED WORKING AND DO SOMETHING CHALLENGING THAT REQUIRES TO APPLY MORE OF MY SKILLS AND THE ABILITY TO REASON WITH UNDERSTANDING.THE CHALLENGES OF THIS JOB LAKE OF COMMUNICATION AND HAVING LESS TOOLS OR SPECIFIC REQUIRED TOOLS TO DO THE JOB.

Daily laboratory routine

start of with daily safety meetings, do risk assessments for each and every task, analyse and report plant samples on a two hourly turnaround time, liase with customer concerning service level agreement and discuss and solve deviations, give out instructions to fellow subordinates

I have learnt a lot while working at this Mine.

We a have of different cultures and we have learnt a lot from one another. Also from the stakeholders they come with different opinions so that teaches us about different characters.

Pros: There's geeat opportunity to grow and work in different departments to learn more about the company
Cons: When working there you ll find yourself being affected with sickness as we mine ore!
