Was a good experience

I was doing crossboader from South Africa to Mozambique. Excellent trucks, you don't touch the truck while if its has Breakdown. You just call your controller and report your issue. You dont change the tyres, the work shop team come and change it for you. Working hours were flexible for long distance, from 05:00 to 23: 00 and services and maintenance they were make sure to up to date The i liked is that Safety first before everything. The make sure you know the truck, diesel consumption, the Revs, speed, brakes. Make challenges was Driving on the Rough roads, step and down hills with shurp bands but hey if i wasn't a professional driver i wouldn't speaking by now.

No opportunity to grow

Although the company gave me an opportunity when needed, there is no promotions available. The most challenging aspect of the job is to submit work on or before the deadline supplied.

Learn to do computer work

I work with my husband and it is good. The day start with updates then PODs in computer put do admin and the rest of the day I do the work as the driver bring there paperwork. By the 15 the mother end the I scan paperwork to head office. I learn a lot about trucks and breakdown. My days is not everyday the same.

Pros: No opportunities to be promoting
Cons: 07hoo till 17h00

Manager of warehousing

Work for this company for many years first I was training manager in the head office then they sent me do be manager of the depot in Durban and I must do all maintenance off the depot and warehouse do check work on the trucks and do breakdowns and accident reports. Do computer work as well and diesel reports.

Pros: No promotion
Cons: 24 hours on duty

Excellent learning curve

I liase with clients. I report directly to my line manager. I control 40 trucks, including their routes and schedules. I enjoy working with the people and meeting new clients. I have learned a lot about time management and fleet control. I am on call 24/7 and must respond to calls, clients and drivers.

Pros: Great learning curve.
Cons: Long working hours, on call 24/7

Hard worker

The company is owned by aan that treats people like toys and no matter what you do it is not good enough. No perks at all Barely time off only get one day a month off. Blames controllers for contracts lost due to a driver strike and controllers charged

Pros: None
Cons: No time for personal life
