It is an academic institution

Working at my company is so interesting especially if you want to research and further your studies. There are lot of Projects to be done. we work as a team as we all learning new things with our projects. You learn to be responsible, troubleshooting as you work on your own project. I enjoy discovering new things with the projects. The most challenging thing is when things are not working out so you need to do more of the thinking and troubleshooting.

Pros: Great place for researchers
Cons: No space for growth

Job title: Medical Scientist

As a Medical Scientist, I do researches for example malaria surveillance. I have to research the cause and try to check the strain of the parasite that is responsible for that. To do that, I apply molecular diagnostic knowledge. I also get Projects that I should start by applying for Grants and process them, and publish my findings, helping Department of Health for the awareness of other hidden diseases. My work is so exciting and we work as a team, helping each other with ideas. Challenges come when you can't get what you are looking for.

Pros: It is a great opportunity for promotion
Cons: Much is required

Researchi and finding the hidden things eg. in a project given

I'm working in a Laboratory at NICD/NHLS as Medical Scientist. We deal with diagnostic tests, Molecular tests. Everyone has a Project also to work on, starting by getting a Grant upto writing a final report of it. In our department, we work as a team and we learn everday. I enjoy working on new projects, as you will be learning new things. The challenging aspect is when u don't get your project right and you have to troubleshoot.

Pros: Opportunities of growth are not great
Cons: Long working hours

Excellent learning curve
