Niche ICT Market

Plenty of projects to keep the day moving and interesting. Business is starting to revolutionise its core functions with technology, however, they tend to rely on outside consultation rather than doing a skills assessment within the company and align existing talents. I find it challenging to express my ideas in a constructive environment, as most of my co-workers worked for the company in excess of 10 + years. New tech generates a great deal of anxiety within the ITC division. Upskilling is limited and staff are not encouraged to improve.

Pros: Stability and less likely to be fired or retrenched.
Cons: Loyalty is encouraged over innovation and skills resulting in staff stagnating.

Career growth

I am leading the asset management team for the group where I ensure all that all the asset are being maintained in a proper manner. I have learnt to work with deifferent people as I also assist with SAP PM queries on a daily basis.

Pros: Exposure to other departments
Cons: People not wanting to held responsible
