Good learning area

*work from 7:30 to 16:00 but could do with overtimes *help people with general enquiries *answer telephone, emails, and social media inquiries *cover reception duties *type up documents, like letters,reports and memorandums *can use office equipment's like printers,photocopier and fax machines *can work with requisitions, SnT and leave books *set up meetings and take minutes *filling and planning trips for staff mambers my relationship with my co-workers is quiet good i have no complains by far since im the youngest in the building.

Challenging and Rewarding

my typical day consist of walk in enquiries, from medical aid, changes to salary, pension fund loans, updating of vehicle allowance logsheets, and when ever the is a position advertised to receive CV and compiling profiles arranging for shortlisting as well as interviews. Creating appointment letters as well as regret letters and induction of new employees to the different sections and policies. I have a good working relations with my colleague's as we have become office friends and can share most things with each other and yet maintain the professional working relationship. in my six years I have learn may different things in our work space, like how to deal with different emotions of different people and different cultures. being able to assist people and make them feel like the problems can be solved. I deal with different kinds of people and most challenge comes when employees is drunk.

Good

Through my time of employment in the Local Government I have obtained knowledge, understanding and the importance of compliance with the following Acts and Regulations: 1. Generally Recognised Accounting Principles (GRAP) 2. National Treasury Regulations (NTR) 3. Municipal Finance Management Acts (MFMA) 4. Municipal Systems Act (MSyA) 5. Municipal Structures Act (MStrA) 6. Municipal Standard Chart of Accounts (MSCOA) I am an honest meticulous person, who wants to attain as much as possible in life I have great respect for myself, other people and diverse culture and ethics I am able to work in a team and independently I am able to adapt well in a new environment and interact well with diverse people

Terrible working conditions

Political infighting makes life unbearable. Nothing gets done and no one cares. Audit opinion has dropped dramatically. Money is stolen, benefits are not paid over. Chaos

Excellent learning curve

Good working hours, excellent working hours and good employee relations. Good working culture exists.Benefits for me as an intern is that I get to learn a lot from my superiors and opportunity for promotion does exist

BEEN A SECRETARY FOR THE COMPANY I GOT EASILY BORED AS MY JOB DIFFERS ON A DAILY BASIS

I ENJOY BEEN BUSY FOR THE WHOLE DAY AND LIKE TO BE LED OR GIVE ADVISE TO MY COLLEAGUES AND I LEARNED A LOT FROM MY PREVIOUS DIRECTOR WHO WAS ALMOST IN THIS DEPARTMENT FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS AND ENJOYED IF MY DEPARTMENT IS UPRAISED BY THE COUNCILLORS, THE MOST CHALLENGING ASPECTS IS WHEN THE DEPUTY MANAGERS AND ASSISTANT MANAGERS DID NOT SUBMIT THEIR POE'S ON TIME TO MY OFFICE

Pros: I LIKE TO LEAD A GROUP AND LIKE CHALLENGES WHEN IT COMES MY WAY
Cons: UNNECESSARY DELAYS OF REPORTS JUST TO CLAIM OVERTIME DEADLINE IS A DEADLINE

The internship was a great learning experience.

In these four years of internship I got exposed to all the fields within municipal finance and therefore had a lot to learn.in the finance department we worked as one team and it was vital to have good relations with all team players in order to work efficiently.

Learning but not gaining

learnt a lot .The expirience is Good and enhanced confidence within me . worked well with people internally and externally . i learnt that communications and feedback is key. diversity is important .

I want to see myself as a CEO of my company

i prefer to be busy the whole day at work and have or adapt easily with people around me senior to general and i have learnt to adapt to situations easily and enjoy when we reached a target/deadline with a project and the most challenging is when you have to run around looking for POE's(Portfolio of Evidence) when needed by the Auditors.

Pros: great opportunity for promotion
Cons: failing whilst busy with a project and late submission thereof
