Culture not conducive to growth. Employee value is not top of mind. In order to build depth, the management needs to embark on a staff retention mindset. High turnover of staff results in loss of human capital

Great listening skills

I issue tickets, documents Makes reservations. Collect payment. We deal with walk-in clients. Also over the phone we deal with clients. Also assist with online bookings and also handle queries on email.

What I enjoy most

Excellent entry level for my job and career

In the current company that I work for, we work 12 hours a day and the body adjusts to the routine. I am mostly rotating around the ship not just a consultant, also in the buffet I serve and bar services. I like to work with people and I strive to excel in all I do with my hands so that the passengers can be satisfied with my service rendered. The most challenging part is when we get non-English speaking passengers and that makes communication between us very difficult but I enjoy traveling a lot, I never get enough of seeing the beautiful destinations the ship travels to.

Fantastic learning and development opportunity

Msc has in my opinion at least been the only link missing in my CV. working abroad has been a complete eye opener for me, work is pretty much the same as it is in South Africa the main difference is the learning curve when it comes to company SOP's and obviously the language barrier. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the job as a whole, it was something i did not know i needed until i actually had it. Relationships with co-workers are weirdly enough established extremely quickly even though the turnover rate is quite high and the company being as big as it is which was really helpful in settling in.

Cons: Contact issues between agency and head office

Challenging and amazing

Working for my company is like working for any 5* hotel it has challenges and obstacles to deal with but it’s the most fulfilling job, it needs ones 100% dedication and demands ultimate focus but it’s worth it all when you see smile on guests and you can confirm customer satisfaction.

Excellent

working with MSC CRUISES is great we try and look after each and every passenger with their requests. The staff there gets along really well and works together to make things more easily. The working hours are long but we enjoy every moment

I love the challenge of working at a high pace restaurant

Great customer services

My academic instructions at the University of Forthare, in Computer Science, Business Management, Economics and Accounting provides me with the qualifications necessary to work in managing ranging from small to large projects and the ability to work independently and effectively. As well as the outstanding experience that I gained while working for MSC Cruises and OM Ship South Africa has helped me to grow and to be more professional in dealing with passengers.
