Invaluable experience obtained

I work for the Mpumalanga Department of Education and have been working for the department for the last 13 years. i started as a level 1 educator and was promoted to departmental head in 2017. our working hours are from 7:30 to 14:30 which makes up a 7 hour working day. as i was teaching grades 4-6 I had about 5 periods of teaching per day. although it became monotonous it was quite exciting at first but as the years passed it became monotonous because I was only teaching one subject. I became quite an expert in teaching twechnology and i enjoyed working with children as well as my colleagues. I later taught english and it became quite a challenge. We had to submit daily lesson plans and report hour progress in implementing our lesson plans per week to the departmental head. it was on the whole a lovely and priceless experience.

Capable of learning new things and have the ability to work under pressure and independently.

The position has opportunities to learning new things in the built environment, and there is work pressure while working independently. The department has a chief directorate: physical resources and physical management comprising of all built environment professionals, thus offering me the opportunity to advise and lead a multi-disciplinary organization.

Pros: Opportunities to contribute towards the formulation of national regulations and guidelines related to Education infrastructure delivery
Cons: Working under pressure from political principals, business forums requiring business opportunities and communities requiring school infrastructure as well as job opportunities all in the absence of adequate budget.

Learning experiance

it very hard working without resources but it is rewarding at the end.a typical day consist of a morning briefing and then class attendance that is followed up by two hours of sport.duties includes class management creating condusive learning environment teaching planning assessing grading learners.

Worthwhile experience

Mmy six years teaching Mathematics in South Africa has taught me to be tolerant to learners of different learning abilities. I have also gained professionally especially the use of educational technologies as well as to cooperate with co workers

Very good company

Is a good company, actually a goverment department. very good colleques who understand each other. We get along very well. The management is very good and supportive.

Motivated and willing to learn

Friendly per who is able to work and liase with any person dispite of gender and race. I can also work independently and under extreme pressure without supervision. I am also able to liase with any department for middle to higher management.

Good learning curve

My daily operations are leave and housing matters for employees of the department. I have strong relationship with my colleagues and are strongly attached, we work together as a team and we achieve the set objectives of the department. Though we are under staffed one cannot see that we are working on skeletal structure because we together strong and cohesive. I learnt how to manage people in the department. I also learnt good customer service and people from different disciplines
