Experienced H&S Manager with experience in Engineering, Design and Construction Management

My last 4 years at Mott Macdonald included extensive travelling to various offices and construction sites through out Africa. I have been delivering H&S training to employees working for this Company as well as ensuring full legal compliance as well as internal Management system compliance. This includes Project and office audits. I have also been involved in developing systems and drawing up relative safety documentation for various projects including tenders. I also screen tenderers for projects with regard to H&S compliance. I have an excellent relationship with all co-workers as I am the type of person that strongly believes that a good relationship will enhance your message. I enjoy dealing with all types of Projects and developing systems and plans. Liaising with all types of management persons. Challenges include aligning small contractors to achieve compliance.

Pros: I would love to gain additional experience to enhance my career path.
Cons: Living away from my family in Durban. This requires me to go home at least once a month to see my kids.

Finance

I strongly believe that your company is a place where my qualifications can make a difference. As a Assistant Accountant I am well versed billing and finance systems and processes. It contains the challenge to keep me on my toes and promises rewards for top performance. That's the kind of job I like to anticipate every morning.I would like to work in this position because it's tailored to my competencies, which include billing and debtors /creditors..My core duties include billing, invoicing, account receivable accounts payable. I was with MTN for 14 years and grew within the company starting from billing queries clerk, I have gained experience in Creditors, Debtors, Recons, Invoicing and Payroll/HR. I also was employed at Vega school, CEB, Cummins and my current company Mott MacDonald where I gained more experience in both creditors and debtors.I am self-motivated person and a team player which strives to work under pressure.

Some great mentors

There are some great technical mentors. A few changes needed. Not always busy but a few interesting projects. The hours are not too bad. A strong young professional network. Opportunities to work overseas and to work with global experts across the group.

Anenviroment of development

I enjoy working with county partners. I am more fulfilled when projects are completed successfully and the deliverables are beyond the standard.it gives me satisfaction when I know that my contribution made it happened. the most challenging activity about my work is when risk are not mitigated. when ToRs were not understood at the beginning and when parties involved aren't engaging as they should be

Design based office. Opportunities are there to grow technically. Good people. Challenges in leadership and direction. Slow workload in Africa market recently. Good knowledge library and software and access to resources.

Excellent learning experience, progressed from junior draughtsmen to apply design skills.

A day at work is the usual drawing work sometimes hard to work due to a shortage of work. Relationships with coworkers are good like a family unit. Learning experience was hard as you always give reasons as to why you would like to learn a skill that was needed to help the company succeed. The most enjoyable park of the job was speaking to and collaborating with coworkers. The most challenging part of the job was looking for work to do due to the shortage of work.

Knowledge sharing

Working within a vig organization as this one has veen a cery pleasant experience. To be able to have access to people with extensive knowledfe abd information on various project issues was truly helpful.
