When you do something, do it right the first time

a typical work day would be arriving at the office before 7:30am. I would grab a glass of water and have a bite to eat at my desk while checking emails. thereafter I will attend to my daily workload which includes the financial aspects of the office. I have a very good relationship with co-workers in all branches. I developed a relationship with co-workers in other branches by being involved in projects and finance. I have therefore been marked as the "go to person" in the cape town office. I learnt that when doing something, to do it right the first time but also allow for growth. I enjoy my job in general as I have become diverse within our company. starting off in finance, later moving to a department still maintaining some finance duties, and the highlight was becoming a project administrator where I managed the business aspects of the project and learnt many other valuable information. I enjoy challenges and working under pressure.

Continuous experience

Mott MacDonald Africa is constructing a waste and water treatment plant at Kusile Power Station. We deal mostly with chemicals and process. In my department as an Environmental, Health and Safety Officer shifts start at 7 am and ends at 5pm. There is a lot of interaction with people that makes relationships a key aspect of the job. I have a good communication skills and I interact well with most of the employees. I enjoy conducting site inspections since I meet new things daily and learn from them. Most challenging aspect of the job is the politics that surround environmental, safety and health aspects. I have a thrilling mind that likes to learn something new.

Pros: Great oppotunity for learning more. Long work shifts enable me to have get some days that i dedicate to study.

Career review

the office or branch is a very busy one for both the technical and admin staff but there is no balance when it comes to admin staff. if you are eager to learn and grow there is a platform to do that. Flexibility is one of the pros in the branch and also management and staff relationship
