Good experience and better knowledge

Working for MIBFA is a great experience for me. I started as a tea attendant and now I am currently employed as a logging clerk. I am working with a best team and that helped me in becoming a good team player. We sometimes have challenges with our clients but that's what keeps us going in a daily basis. I have learnt a lot about customers service. And I always get motivated when I give the clients the best service and when I am able to resolve a problem.

Pros: There is opportunity for growth but they want me to have an experience.
Cons: Hours are great

Good entry job

It is a good company to start ur working career at, however the company policy can be ridiculous and the work can become mundane. Senior management seldom listen to complaints and worries, system often doesn't work properly and there is tremendous pressure to perform regardless of these pitfalls. One can become a bit demotivated after a while as it is nearly impossible to get a promotion unless you are a contract worker. There are many training opportunities for the employees, but we are not always allowed to attend them.

Pros: Close to home, central location
Cons: No opportunity for growth

Good start for experience

Start work at 7, I start of by replying to all my e-mail queries, print documents received from members and send for scanning once documents are scanned I start assessing the claims to see if there is anything wrong the contributions or if there are any outstanding documents. Once everything is in order I will call the member to verify if I am paying the right right member and not a fraudulent claim. Once the member verifies all the details, I will send it for payment.

Pros: Good starting salary,13th cheque, flexible working hours, overtime, pension benefits
Cons: no opportunity for growth, long interviews

Excellent learning Curve

Working at MIBFA is a great experience, I'm learning a lot. All aspects of my job is awesome however I would like a change in environment. Mostly enjoy dealing with different IR cases some where extremely challenging some where a breeze. The recruitment is enjoyable, as well as the facilitating Induction and policy awareness.

Pros: Great opportunities for exploring HR
Cons: Growth limitations

Well structured company to work for

I started working at MIBFA in 2013 and resigned to relocate to Mokopane in February 2017. It is a great company to work for as it offers its employees a medical aid and pension fund which they pay 50% of and have monthly workshops to create awareness on different things e.g. health and finances. Most of the staff are very friendly and have been there for long time and are very helpful. Ive learnt that the customer always comes first and to go the extra mile for the customer as we paid out employees provident and or pension funds who worked in the metal and engineering Industries who are depending on that money for their daily meals so Its very important to go the extra mile.

Pros: 13th cheque and annual increases
Cons: where it is situated (central Johannesburg)

Excellent learning curve, challenging and target driven, needs more innovation

Target driven, reconciliation of everything, Interest calculation, handing over to attorneys for arrears, non compliance. Handing over to BDC for missing documents, calling firm for missing payments or documents, Dr registration of firm, liaising with CRM team for website submissions. AOD.. It's very fun atmosphere with colleagues assisting each other..

Pros: Great learning curve
Cons: No growth possibilities

Excellent learning curve to develop and grow

Everyday is a busy day as payments go twice in a week and account reconciliation is required. I would assess claims for payment, request confirmations from bank, employer, broker, client and deed search request. Calculate value due for payment of pension or provident fund. Draft Sec 14 documents of the Pension Fund Act as per FSCA request to be submitted in due time. Request tax directives (Irp3) from SARS online and add payments due on the cashbook. Reconcile pension and provident accounts. Request Tax certificates from our Tax department and EFT proof of payment. send out proof of payment with payment letters and tax certificates to clients. Attend to any related queries within a certain time frame for each, different request. I enjoy working in a team and I have learned a lot in developing my skills. The most challenging aspect is when third parties like SARS cannot deliver within a time frame due to IT systems which then means delayed services to our clients.

Pros: Great benefits
Cons: A less experienced and educated leader than I am
